I don't like the hype for a kid that has reached the qf of a slam once. We have done this a million times. I'm tired of it. Plus, it is proving they're a lot of bandwagon fans here out for glory.

I admit my main excitement about Tiny Carlos™ is the possibility that he will help keep Fed's loss margins stable in the slam count vs. Djokdal.

Ridiculous fanboying I know.

But also - I am dreadfully tired of Novak pretty much winning everything for years now.

So it was nice to see today. Cause he wasn't losing to Tsitserev tomorrow.

Med was close but it was all on one surface and he was much older. Carlos during this run is 18 and 19. At 18 and 19, most players are getting beaten in straight sets every other match except for a few rare cases. At the age of 18 and 19 on multiple different surfaces, it takes a Herculean effort to defeat this guy and even in those defeats he has plenty of chances to win. This simply does not happen to 18 and 19 year old players. Ever.

No guarantees of anything but this is the clear signs that this guy is a different and special breed

Maybe. If so, he should prove it at slams.

It's Carlos any good on grass?

No idea yet, but as for Med "dominating"... He disappears every clay season. He also hasn't made a dent on grass. It's a requirement to be "dominant" to do well in those seasons. Excited to see what the 19 year old brings to his first real grass season.

Never said mug. Said potential. But if he cant compete over 5 sets at the big stage, then he simply is not ready and should not be treated as such. Seen it too many times the past decade. My take is the same take as all the others the past decade... I currently have a 100% success rate in calling it how I see it.
