I have a Babolat Aeropro Drive Cortex and use a rubberband as my dampener. I was wondering if you guys use dampeners on your Babolat Cortex Racquets??? I understand that the Cortex System filters the vibrations so is it even beneficial to use a dampener??? What do you guys think???

I, personally haven't seen the inside of the racquet to really say the cortex tech really exists. To answer your question, yes I do use one. I use a Gamma Shockbuster I, which is like the cortex of the dampener world. I use it to nullify the annoying ping sound from my strings. I don't think it's beneficial, but that's just me.

i don't use anything on my apd. it sounds a little funny without it, but it plays much better. i can't seem to hit with it when there's a dampener on there. can't seem to feel the ball at all.

yeah the cortex has a dampening effect for sure b/c i have 3 old apd's and 2 new apdc's and that seems to be the main difference. the cortex is almost like a built in dampener.

sounds weird but i use 3 dampeners on my apdc strictly for shock absorption for tennis elbow reasons. yeah, the feel is a bit dampened but you get used to it. without dampeners, my elbow would hurt a bit more. i actually was using 5 sampras "O" dampeners for a few months, then switched to 3- one Sampras "O" and 2 smiley faces. i also noticed an increase in power going from 5 dampeners to 3, just FYI. So dampeners are great but in using them, you sacrifice both feel and power. i gotta have 'em though.

no I dont use a dampener...although my PDR sounds a little different but I like it, it feels good, also the blue plastic thing came off the racquet an it was anoying so I need to take it off, this is the second time it happen...

I have lots of old school racquets (with great feel) but one of the racquets I enjoy the most is APDC and I love the sound and feel WITHOUT any dampeners.

Not sure if you guys know, but the woofer crap from babolat is what kinda makes babolat rackets have a mute feel. Tokyopunk had a thread about the cross-section of the cortex, and it was basically nothing i think.

Depending on the type of damp you use, any babolat can literally become a prince 03 racket in terms of feel.

Even with the Cortex, my APDC has loads of vibration. I use the dampener that Nadal uses (Yellow round babolat one). It's way more solid, almost like a plank of wood.

I have and AST and i love the feel of no dampener, but i can't stand the ping noise so i went with the sampras O and it filters the noise, but not the feel

I put silicone in the handle of my pdr's and use a #64 rubberband when I take them off the wall and have a hit with them.

i use to use one but it kept on falling off so i couldnt be bothered anymore. nd i dnt use elastic bands cause they feel different

No, I do not use a dampener. I haven't used one on my APDC so I do not know how that would feel. I certainly don't mind not having one though

IMO

the cortex is like what BLX plays like.....(I've played with it)
The cortex gives a "muddier" feel to the ball, yes, more dampened
But i still use a dampener....always have....always will :)

i use a Aero storm
I think it takes away to much feel if i use shocks.
i have been advised to use no shock w/ cortex rackets.

i use those clear Head logo damp 2
