yeah brown is Jamaican even though he was born in germany. i think either his mom or dad is from Jamaica and they might have moved down there for a bit. The Jamaican Tennis Federation never showed Brown any love

They are concentrating all their energy in winning the GOLD medal in Bobsledding in winter Olympics. All their best athletes are bobsledding...:)

let's go Frank!

What's Franks story? Is he a grass court specialist or something?

The reason I ask is that it looks as if he's played less than 10 matches in 2010, and all of those have been on grass ..... Has he been injured? :?:

Frank is dancevic. he has powerful serve and volley game with big time serve. his backhand is his strength. inconsistant forehand. and also has very nice feel and touch at net. Dancevic beat Blake and Querry so he can play. and he has a HOT girlfriend. i Accidently hit on her in a tournament not know she was his possession.........:???:

But not this year, right? I saw most of his first set against Mahut today, and he was looking good, so I checked him out ... and it looks as if he didnt start playing until the grass season started in England ... that's why I was wondering whether he had been injured in the earlier part of the year.

Yeah, he's been injured since Wimbledon of last year, I believe. A back injury.

But, he's back now and his best results are usually on grass or HCs.. suits his style (like Fedace said, he's got kind of a S&V game).

Good to see him bounce back that quick. Hopefully, he's good for Davis Cup action, sooner than later. And, if he can get a wildcard, the Canada Masters in Toronto coming up soon :)

3rd match on center: [4] Olivier Rochus (BEL) vs. [Q] Raven Klaasen (RSA)

I'm interested to see Klaasen play, as I havent had the opportunity before. He's obviously not in O.Rochus' class, but he has made it through qualies and taken out the top seed, so why not the no. 4 seed as well? :D

For some reason, I'm guessing this could be the match of the day ... prolly because these two should play with a lot more emotion than was shown by Sam yesterday. It's the second of the 'center court' matches (first being a doubles match) and should begin in approximately two hours.

Dabul is one of the Argentine players I have yet to see, so I'm looking forward to that. In addition, these two are very close in their recent match records as well as their rankings and, I imagine, they're both "hungry." A couple differences are that Dustin is almost a foot taller than Brian, and Brian is a lefty. Should be a good one! :)

This is the worst I've EVER seen a professional (Brown) play. He's made about 10 unforced errors the last 11 points or so. What is going on here, and how did he beat Querrey?

apparently, he's what the announcer called "erratic."

that was one heckuva tweener by dabul last game, entertained brown so much that he sent the reply wide ....... but did manage to hold serve 2-3 (a break down in the second)

======= edit: this Dabul guy is the real deal. Comes from 0-30 down to hold 5-3

========= WELL! definitely not the match of the day (I hope) ... had high expectations for dustin brown, but he had just TMUE today.

Grats to Dabul, who's into his first ATP semifinal, 64 64 :D

Ryan Harrison rips a forehand DTL passing shot, the best shot of the match, on MP for the win.

[WC] Harrison d. [WC] Kudla 7-5, 7-6 (5)

I'm starting to notice something very promising about Ryan Harrison that bodes well for his future on the tour. He pulls out some unbelievable clutch shots on big points.

The one I quoted above was obviously on match point in the 2nd set tiebreak. He just hit a beautiful, seemingly impossible passing shot on the run at 30-40, 6-5 to take the first set on his only set point.

And now he gets broken for the first time, in the first game of the second set.

Ryan is a very good player with all the shots including a really impressive serve and volley game....BUT he seems to struggle to point away points and tries to finesse shots rather than punishing them. There have been five points in this match so far with Bloomfield where he could have simply hit a hard shot right at bloomfield or cross but rather tried a lob, dink at the feet, etc.

....he is up a set....broke back in the second at 4-5 to make it 5-5.

The same thought occurred to me when he hit that lob at the net a few minutes ago. That was a very easy sitting ball, he could have easily roped it anywhere on the court for a winner. But he ended up hitting a lob that Bloomfield ran down pretty easily, and the Brit smacked an impressive winner off the lob. Ryan threw his racquet after the point, I wonder if that was a reaction to the great shot or to his bad decision?

Definitely his own bad decision haha

Harrison became a bit unglued in the second set tiebreaker. Threw his racquet and almost smashed it after double faulting at 3-5.

On to the third set.

I think he realizes that this is the type of match that he really needs to win in order to jump start his career. Never going to get an easier draw to the semi-finals of an ATP event.

Just FYI, last time these two played, Harrison only won 7-5 in the third...plus Harrison keeps serving and volleying on his second serve which is kinda silly considering he is far superior at the baseline compared to Bloomfield.

back to the drawing board for Ryan Harisson. Well this should at least bump him up the rankings a bit. Anyone know his schedule for the rest of the summer?
