Can anyone help me select a racquet that's similar to Head's iPrestige?

I have been playing with two Head iPrestige racquets since 2006, one of which met its demise a few weeks back. I am afraid the second one's about to retire as well, and so am looking to buy replacements.

Unfortunately, these racquets are no longer in production, and so I need advise on what sticks play similar to mine.

I am afraid I am not aware of the exact specs but here is what I do know:

Mid-Plus
Xtra Long (though I am fine with a regular sized frame as well)
98 inches frame
18 Mains x 20 Crosses

I believe these are the full specs - http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=262510
Looks like this: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?p=6417670

Would really appreciate your help.

Thank you.

Two options.
The easiest and cheapest. Scan different auction sites and forum for sale around the web for i.Prestige MP. They are often to be found for around 70-120 $ each

Or, buy a pro-stock with the code PT57E. Expensive, but that´s the i.Prestige in a modern day paintjob

TBH, there are no modern frames that can match the i.Prestige MP.

Thanks Hankestein - I hadn't really considered buying second hand racquets, but if I can get a couple that haven't been used much then might as well.

What does pro-stock mean? Is it the exact same racquet or just similar? Anyway, I will try to find out more about it.

If you don't mind me asking -- what happened to the i.Prestige that died? Did it crack because of fatigue?

You could try extending an IG Prestige MP but it won't feel as solid as the i.Prestige.

Pro Stock are frames made for a certain pro-player with a specified, personal flex, balance and weight. They often sell 2nd hand for atleast 300 $ if you want one in decent condition.

There are a huge variety that you need to know a lot about pro-stocks before buying a pro-stock, so i recommend looking for used i.prestige MP (XL is extremely hard to find)

You can also look at Head Pyramid Tour that is very exclusive frame and one of the best feeling frames ever made. Can be found very cheap at differnet auction sites

I'd recommend demoing the Yonex Tour G and the IG Prestige MP. The IGMP will need some weight added.

For me personally in terms of feel the Tour G is the closest to the iPrestige.

If you need alternatives and don't mind some subtle changes - check out the Tecnifibre 315 LTD 18x20. They are very much in the ballpark and have that Head feel (plus head pallets under the grip).

PP, I have read a lot about this stick here but never tried it. Have you played a Donnay Pro One 97 and are they comparable?

I played with the standard length i.Prestige MP (and still have a couple). I did try the XLong version and it felt different.

I would try the IG Prestige MP and add some lead. Its pretty close but isn't quite as stiff as the i.Prestige.

Yeah it cracked.

Hmm other people also seem to be suggesting the same racquet. I unfortunately don't have a place I can try racquets in Pakistan but perhaps I can find someone who has those sticks.

IG Prestige MP. To get roughly the same specs as your old racquet, add 2-3g of lead at 12 and 2-3g to buttcap.
Thanks for the tip!

Hmm my brother has the standard size Prestige (the one after iPrestige), which I tried several years back and it felt fine. I will check those out again next week and see how it feels. That should help me decide what I want.

Interesting. I personally feel comfortable with the "Head" brand, having played with it for about 8 years now. But I would give the Tour G a shot if I had access to it. Thanks for your feedback.

Alright I will see if I can try that. Thanks for that insight!
