Your contact point is a little too much out in front on some (either bring it in or get your body into the court more). Remember all things equal, a contact point more out in front will cause a more downward ball trajectory. Less in front causes a more upward ball trajectory.

Also you're making contact on the way down instead of on your way up. Try serving some with your feet planted on the ground to get a feel for driving up into the ball.

One thing that stood out was that your other arm kinda dropped during the toss. I think that robs the fluidity of your stroke and hurries things up to get your arm into the trophy position and then complete the stroke. So, I would advise that you raise your racquet during your toss and try to be in the trophy position sooner. If you haven't checked out the "Fuzzy Yellow Balls" website, I would highly recommend you do so. It has some great instructional videos and really helped me with my serve. Good luck....

Slow your prep down.
Turn sideways more for prep.
Get a solid, repetitive trophy position.
Swing faster.
Toss into court, but you gotta move inside the baseline 18" after the strike.
Practice more.

Hit 500 serves a week (more if your elbow can withstand).

SLOW DOWN...and concentrate on TOSS...(place the ball)

It looks like you're holding the ball too tightly and maybe your racquet too.

I practice serves like I'm serving in a match, not just picking up a ball and gunning it right away...a la Sampras.

your R elbow is stuck to your R hip and this is restricting your ability to get the maximum racquet drop.

You L arm isn't fully extending which is reducing the lift of your L shoulder in the trophy position. Once you have this action more fluent then you will need to learn to initiate the throwing action (esp. shoulder over shoulder action) by pulling your L elbow down to your hip rather then at the moment the L arm is just falling as a unit, which is collapsing your action a little but more importantly slowing down the R side of the body.

This is good advice. I couldn't put my finger on why you were falling down into the swing rather than up into the ball. Solat is right on!

so is that the main problem is i am hitting the ball when i am falling instead of rising?is hitting the ball when u are rising the correct way to hit a serve?

You're "rising" because you want to put the power you generate with your legs/torso/arm etc. INTO the ball. By "falling", a lot of that energy is gone and you're merely whacking the ball if you will. Its something I have trouble with too so I'm not an expert on it by any means, but if you watch a good serve, look at how they explode all the energy they create into the ball.

You aim hit at the peak of your upward "jump" (error on the upward side though, not downward), but the key that Solat is pointing out is that its your hitting shoulder that's not moving up at contact and this is caused by your non-hitting arm/shoulder falling down.

You say you like roddick's serve. Focus your attention on his non-hitting arm. He reaches up towards the tossed ball and even gets his hand behind the toss. Then he pulls his non-hitting elbow towards his hip to force his hitting shoulder up into the shot.

This upward movement is what gives the racket its acceleration into contact and applies a degree of topspin to the serve to increase your margin of error.
