The guy is gonna be as fresh as a daisy. Nadal declined, Djokovic hasn't won there and will be nervous, Murray is Murray, Wawrinka won't show up, everyone below the top 5 doesn't matter. I think Fed can pull it off.

So some nobody is going to beat Fed? As in some no-name qualifier upsets him in the first round? Then I say it's very possible.

Some cautionary points to consider:

1. Let's see how well Federer recovers from his knee surgery first.

2. Let's see how keen Wawrinka is to defend his title first.

3. Let's see how keen Djokovic is to finally land the one that keeps getting away first.

4. Let's see how keen Clayray is to repeat his clay exploits of last season first.

If all but the first don't materialise, then probably no-one else will be able to stop Federer from adding a second RG crown to his vast array of Slam titles! ;)

OP is just trying to turn this into a predictiong thread because of that other 'Joker peak at 2015' revided thread.

It's a win win. If the prediction is true, glory, if not it gets burried.

Hmmm, the irrational exuberance starts early this year!

Clearly by far the best chance Fed will ever have to win a French Open title. Has to happen this year, or it never will.

What about Nadal? ;)

You really think he's that far gone?
Well, I haven't seen him play at anything like his old level since he won his last Slam title at 2014 RG, almost 2 years ago now. Since then, he's been a shadow of his former self. I'd love to be proved wrong and that he does pick it up again in time for this year's RG but, frankly, I don't hold out much hope. What do you think?

When it comes to RG you can never rule that SOB out. :D

I'll wait and see how he progresses on clay this year. If, like last year, he wins no clay Masters I will rule him out as a contender for anymore titles at RG. I'm sure that will be music to your's and Novak's ears! ;)

AM has a better shot than RN at RG imo

Totally agree with OP, literally an random Nobody could dump Fed out of the FO this year.

No need to stop.He will stop himself by losing to some mediocre opponent. That's what happening to him particularly in last couple of years.Djokovic will win it to finish his 'career slam' and 'noleslam'.

I don't see Federer doing it. Possibly Novak or is it the time for someone like David Ferrer (spelling?)

Five months away for anyone is a long time, but for a 34 year old... Yeah, Rafa, Joker, Stan, Raonic, Murray, Ferrer, Nishi could all bounce him when they're playing well. And if by a miracle he doesn't get his usual Q, WC, #128 draw, several others (Agut's been playing good so far, the serb who beat him in the recent final, Gasquet could finally beat him) could nail him. He's prob the 2nd to last of the top ten I'd pick, after Berdych. No, I guess I can't see David Ferrer win it, although I'd like him to.
