Can Coco Gauff win the French Open?

Which is the more likely scenario?

Iga Swiatek has made Paris her playground in a manner echoing her idol Rafa as well as tennis great Evert, although she is still in the beginning phases. Can Coco Gauff challenge her on her home turf or will she have to wait until the French Open champ begins to lose steam? She may never reach the level that Swiatek is at consistently, but if Gauff starts leveling up, this could be the next great rivalry...

Iga was very lucky Osaka missed that sitter of a forehand into the net, because that was essentially the end of her reign there. While she is good, Swaitek is not Nadal in Paris, she lost in the semis of the Olympics on that very court also.

Having said that, I think Coco probably hasn't got to the level to beat her at RG, I would love Coco to win it, you can see she really wants to win in Paris, but she has to show me something special in the lead up.

I'm all for her, but not sure she is ready.

Coco has the best chance of any other young player I’d say. She has begun to work out the Iga matchup on HC as evidenced by her win earlier this year.

Needs a couple years of seasoning though. Her FH is just such an inconsistent eyesore, like, arguably the worst FH I’ve ever seen from a Slam winning player ever. Even just an average FH would put her in real contention.

Anyone But Iga Swiatek

Look at that, Iga getting her own anti-club.

I do believe Coco also beat her in the YEC at the end of last year. So she has back to back wins.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think she beat her in KSA.

I mean Iga lost twice at French open. In 2021 she lost to Sakarri in straights. So the concept that Coco would have to go through her to win is probable but obviously not 100 percent. Iga also has lost at other clay court tournaments. We are not talking like Chris Evert dominance here where she didnt lose for like 7 years or something on clay. She is very very good on clay but not unstoppable. The margins are not as huge as some people think.

For now... No. I see a higher chance for steroid Sinner to win FO 2025 or Wimbledon 2025 than lil girl from the hood to win FO 2025.

But eventually she will wake up that hood dog in next few years and Swiatek will get mental breakdown after Coconut will destroy her. Age is on her side.

I’m tempted to put a wager on Zheng for this upcoming FO. If Iga doesn’t win it, I think she will.

She was impressive at the Olympics to be sure.

Don’t sleep on Sabalenka here imo. Still the player I’d pick as the best in the world. Hopefully the AO loss will be a wake up call. She can clearly win it if she’s in shape and focused.

Why it always happens with me lmao

Currently, Coco gets very passive and conservative in SF and finals as she gets close to winning it. Similar to Badosa. She has time to grow out of becoming 100% defensive in close big matches and may indeed win the FO during her career.
