Can Dimitrov Possibly Still Win A Slam?

I would be very surprised if he does, but Dimitrov has had a very good career, even if his peak ended up being lower than many people expected.

Dimitrov has also aged better than probably all of the other top players from the "Lost Generation" (birth years 1989-1994), which includes guys like Kei Nishikori, Milos Raonic, and Dominic Thiem in addition to Dimitrov.

He is truly the Federer of his age cohort

The beautiful game ages best.

No chance he pulls an Ivanisevic.

Djokovic is still strong despite the bad past few months and Sinner and Alcaraz are already established players. And you have dangerous players like Zverev and Medvedev around.

He would need to beat two of those likely for a slam.

If he beats Alcaraz and Sinner to win a slam, at his advanced age, after going 3-33 against Big Three, and reaching only 3 Grand Slam Semi's in his entire career, it will be the biggest upset in history.

Well, Big 3 are much better than Alcaraz and Sinner.

He beat Alcaraz with ease, and although he was bad versus Sinner he CAN beat him. But yes, it would be a huge upset doing it back-to-back Bo5.

Best of Five is a different animal. Perhaps somebody can post Grigor's record when matches go full 5 sets.
Hard to imagine him battling young Sinner or Alcaraz for 5 full sets and coming out on top.
He does not have the endurance. And he is a long covid survivor.

Probably not. He will never get by sinner who actually gives a s*** about his profession. Dimitrov wanted to go chase tail for 30 years and now all of a sudden he’s a tennis player. Doesn’t work that way. If you want to be a success you have to dedicate yourself. You can’t wait until your mid 30/ and a decide “oh I think I’m ready. Oh stay right there Maria is in that position be right back”

If it was a bum field maybe . Sinner won’t let it happen though. It pro sports not corporate America though.
This gives his fundamentals too much credit.

Wasn't Goran a qualifier or wild card when he won Wimbledon?

Grigor is bordering on top 10 at a similar age

If he winds up in a Slam final vs anyone not named Carlos, Jannik, Novak or Rafa...he could do the unthinkable

He has a one handed backhand. Not quite on the level of Stan or Fed but definitely elite. Probably one of top 10 one handers in the world.
It held up very well against Alcaraz . Was actually hitting backhand winners on the service returns against Raz.

But very few can pull this off consistently. It will eventually break down. That is why one handers are nearly extinct at the Top 50.
Did not see the match but have to assume that Sinner mercilessly picked on his backhand today.
Dimitrov's one-handed backhand was, indeed, broken mercilessly.
