It's not that slow like Miami. He won pretty convincingly in 2012, an extremely windy day, after losing to Rafa in AO 2012. He lost in 2013 but he was kinda not fully well. I still remember Rafa asking him whether all was fine and Roger replying he was fine. I expect Roger to win against both Rafa and Novak. I expect him to win too
We'll see. Who knows what to expect these days and that is good because it's not as predictable as before, i.e. the last two years. I'm good after that AO 2017 Federer win which I definitely wasn't anticipating. ;) As I've said many times before, if Federer can win one more Wimbledon that would be a real fairy tale ending for me.

You do realize he defeated Nadal at IW in 2012, right?
Yes but if i remember wssnt it very cold that night and windy. Very unusual for indian wells and meant ball kept low.

My point wigh nadal v federer is its easy to pick the winner. Just see how high the ball is bouncing. For both playing djokovic a much harder match to call.

Well wins is one of the aspects of outdoor HC. The wins was the same for both players. If Nadal couldn't adapt as well as Federer, then that's life.

I wouldn't use wind as an excuse for Nadal since he actually did manage to win a title at IW in very very windy conditions (2009).

Not using it as an excuse at all. Just saying that if they meet this week i assume it will be hot and high bouncing and so i pick nadal to win.

Im all fkr more variety with court surfaces and bounce etc

You talk as if it's 2013 or something. Rafa is well past his best, and any match between the two is now a toss up. I'd actually favour Federer, given his far superior serve and new aggressive returning style (vs Rafa's weak serve for an ATG top 10 player)

Federer still is weak on backhand if ball gets up high. I am certain nadal will beat him in indian wells.

If he doesnt then you will be proven right. I agree nadal is way past it. But i still think he will beat federer with ease but then if he llays djokovic get another schooling.

If federer by chance won indian wells he should target the french open. He would have a great chance.

Indian wells huge this year

Why am I seeing people say IW is too slow? He literally hasn't dropped a set to anyone not named Djokovic since 2013. The last two times he played here, he reached the final. Maybe the draw will open up and he'll go deep. Maybe he'll lose to Anderson in the third round. I don't know, but the court isn't an excuse.

IW isn't as bad as Miami or Clay, and Nadal's topspin isn't as potent as it used to be.

I think it will be a fun close match. No thrashing either way.

Agree that if any decent version of Djokovic shows up, he will beat Fed in 2 or 3, the 3 if Fed can come out all guns blazing win 6-2, or sneak a tiebreak or something.

The problem for Roger is that even if he tied him, Nole would just set a new record later since he has more time left on the tour IMO! Roger might outlast Rafa, but not Nole!

Federer would beat nadal in miami. He wont in indian wells. Indian wells in my view at this stage if his career should be his pet tournament whixh is why last year when he lost to djokovic i knew he had problems. The dry thin air and high bouncing court should be tailor made for him. Miami is humid and lower bouncing....nadal is as well skipping miami

Why would a slow HC be Federer's pet tournament... Halle (fast grass), Cincy (medium-fast HC) Basel (medium-fast indoor) are his pet tournaments.
