Courts are ridiculously slow and high bouncing at that tournament. It's almost like a clay court. With that in mind, surely he's got that tournament in the bag, along with the 3 out of 3 tournaments he's already won this year?

edit: actually not entirely sure if they are high bouncing. I know they are slow though.

He'd be the favorite anyway. If Djokovic draws Vesley he could be bounced in round 1 or 2 anyway.
Vesely isn't listed in the main entry list or qualifying for Indian Wells. And the courts are so much slower than Dubai so I doubt he can recreate his game plan against Djokovic in those conditions.

In that case maybe Djokovic will consider vaccinating to enter Indian Wells? He would have a much improved chance without his tormentor Vesley in the draw :)(y)

Nadal should win both Indian Wells and Miami. I'm all for it.

It’s a good thing Dustin Brown isn’t likely to play, and that Davydenko is retired.

If weather is hot they bounce high in the day time especially but it can be cold there especially at night and the ball keeps much lower. As of now the top 4 favourites are
1. Nadal
2. Norrie (yes really! Conditions are ideal for him)
3. Zverev
4. Tsitispas
All those 4 should love the conditions and I would back all 4 to beat Djokovic if Djokovic can play.
Norrie though in my view will crumble as defending champion as that pressure may get to him and Nadal showed some fatigue in the final v Norrie yesterday so can see him being upset as I doubt he will give it 100 pct after already winning 3 titles as surely the clay Court season will be his priority to be fresh and fit for.
For Zverev and Tsitsipas it is a huge tournament. Both have a lot to prove and for me it is must win for both so I shall be betting on one of them to win. Not sure which one yet though leaning towards Zverev though.

Minus Djoker nada is the fav NO?

He should skip IW and try to get a maiden Miami title… no need to play two more hard court tourneys before the clay and risk what’s been a ridiculously healthy first 2 months of the year. VAMOS!!
He will play IW skip Miami

Nadal will be fine 2 weeks plus qualifiers that take time it’s a 2 week tournament snd with a bye plenty of time to refresh he hasn’t liked humidity lately that’s what is getting him noticed in AO and Acapulco

But he's great friends with Larry Ellison, so no chance of skipping Indian Wells (barring injury), plus I wouldn't worry about Miami..... having the full collection of masters (which he still won't have) doesn't help your legacy in my opinion.

Depends on the draw and how heathy Dominic Thiem is if he returns? Thiem without a tune-up tournament may not fare well just as I thought ND should've played in a tune-up in Qatar 250 before Dubai. I think unvaccinated are allowed in Qatar under certain protocols. Once we see the draw predictions can be then better evaluated.

I remember in October the courts were so gritty that players were tearing open their shoes. IW is a fun, big tournament but the courts are god awful.

Do you think zverev will get to play? ATP is apparently still investigating. I think he should get atleast a 1 month ban.
Also, why have you left med out of top 4 contenders?

Of course he can. The tour is a joke right now and if Djokovic isn’t there to stop him it’s an easy ride. Medvedev sure as hell isn’t getting the job done. The only other guy I wouldn’t mind seeing him play is Aliassime. I want to see what Felix can do against him.

I mean... Probably not. But then he couldn't win the Australian Open or Acapulco either.

Zverev is one of the most dangerous players vs. Nadal on hardcourt....

Forget about the IW, the better question is can he finally win Miami?

Sure, his body parts might let him down again but my point was that no other player seems to be in a position to stop him.

I was making jokes about that. Jokes aside, many players can beat him. He's not a giant in bo3 on hc. Hope he sits till MC open.

Just wondering if any player can take him on in his current form though. The new world #1 (as of Monday) came closest but even he couldn't get the job done.
