She definitely could. She’ll be the exact same age that Kim Clijsters was when she returned to tour after having a child.
It depends on how Osaka looks, from what I’ve read, her conditioning looks good and she looks set for a good comeback. First tournament back will Brisbane, if she has a few good matches then I could see her doing it but if she looks horrendous then I’d write her off.
Never easy to write off a 2x former champ. I think 2024 will be the year of the mum. Wozniacki, Svitolina, Osaka, Kerber etc. Watch out WTA.

Apparently she has been training the house down.
She was always a prolific trainer before leaving the tour, so that seems to be an area where she has snapped straight back into her old routine.
I haven’t seen enough of her from a fitness standpoint to really know where she is at, though. That looks like it will be the deciding factor. The WTA is absolutely ruthless from a defensive standpoint now. The best it has ever been. If you can’t defend the court like a rabbit chasing everything down you are toast. It’s insane how good the top 50 are defensively.
As far as how good she will be from a ball striking standpoint, I have no doubts there. Once a good ball striker, always a good ball striker. Osaka was always in the top two or three most dangerous baseliners so she will be fine in that department.

That kind of money has been known to distract more than a few athletes.
Anyway, I don't know what the future holds in store for her (nor does anyone else here)

Bookies have her at between 25/1 and 40/1 even for the US Open, and I didn't see her listed at all for the Australian Open.
They actually have Swiatek at favorite for all four slams next year, although only at Roland Garros is she firm favorite.
