Can Novak Djokovic still win 30 slams?

I bet he would've done it if someone else had 29. But, Nadal stopped at 21 and Federer at 20. Oh well...

Considering most of his latest additions are asterisked … I think he is sitting around 18-19 truly legit Grand slams now

I think he'll find an extra gear and do better come slam time, at the FO and later Wimbledon.

But yeah, it might be over at this point. Nothing lasts forever, dude had one of the most insane runs in any sport I've seen, literally won everything and completed the game.

Won a USO without beating a top 25 player lulz
Well yeah. Nadal has several very weak slams that are overlooked. That aside, clay field has been significantly weaker than the HC field for the past 20 years. It's pretty laughable to see people claiming post 2016 Djoko was a shell of his 2011-2016 self, while post 2017 Nadal was still unbeatable on clay for anyone ever.

What's the clay field?

It’s not impossible, but if he does get to 30 slams it would be one of the most unexpected results for me to have thought to be the outcome that won’t happen (making the decision right about now).

After seeing what he did at the Olympics and reaching the 2025 aus open sf, anything is possible. He just needs a little better fitness to go through b2b 5 setters, or get lucky with the draw.

He won the race
He is currently ahead in the race, but he has not won it. The race is not over. It never will be. Someone can and will eventually surpass him. He just doesn't like the idea of seeing it happening in his lifetime that is why, even though he has won everything, he's still going. He knows the likes of Sinner and Alcaraz have a good shot at overtaking him.

Fair point … but I’ll take that bet on Sinner or Alcaraz vs Novak. It’s possible but not probable.

He won the race
Genuinely do not think HE feels he won the race. His fans will keep saying he did, and statistically obviously he did, but i really am not sure he feels he won it because of RG 2022. I dont know him personally, but i understand his mentality as he is a winner and one of the fiercest competitive animals the Earth has ever seen in its billion odd years in all likelihood. Given that personality of his, to me it is quite obvious why he cuts such a frustrated figure.

RG 2022 is probably not even in the TOP 10 of most iconic Djokodal matches.

i agree in terms of quality. However there was a lot riding on it due to AO 2022 (and FO2021 given the conduct of some in team Djokovic) and it cannot be forgotten that at the time it got billed as the GOAT decider by the media and fans. It became personal. Many in the tennis media prefer Djokovic (eg McEnroes, Mourtagolou, Rothenberg, Roddick, Kyrgios etc) to Nadal largely because all couldnt accept Nadal having surpassed Federer and the fact they all have never liked 'dirt ballers'. They were the ones who spent ages bigging that match up ad nauseum. Even that clown President Macron commented on it!
Obviously in such circumstances losing that match was always going to be a massive body blow for many years as it was always likely to be the last ever face off at a slam between the two given their ages.
The only other matches that they had that had anywhere near that kind of hype were RG2012F (at the time that was transcending sport the build up) and USO 2013 albeit that was only among tennis fans as it was seen as a straight shoot out for the best player of 2103 so billed as match to determine World Champion 2013 (USA Today headline). Obviously anything in the USA heavily marketed becomes a big deal as they are the Kings at marketing.
W2011F should have had similar hype, but at the time tennis was still living in the Federer shadow ad Nadal v Djokovic as a rivalry didn't really become an event that transcended the sport until after their epic AO2012F.

Stop cheating readers. Nadal vultured way more than Djokovic.
No.
I give you data.
Nadal's Major titles in his 20s: 13.
Nadal's Major titles in his 30s: 8.

Djokovic's Major titles in his 20s: 12.
Djokovic's Major titles in his 30s: 12.

It's clear who benefited the most from the decline in tennis's level over the last decade.

So Nadal only won one more slam in his 20s than Djokovic? Hardly a big difference...

At least you got Nadal's slam count right. (y)

That aside, your idol would have loved benefiting even more from "the decline of tennis level", just as he benefited greatly from the absence of true claycourters over the past two decades. Sadly for you, he wasn't good enough. Even his opportunistic avoiding tactics that brought him much undeserved success in his heyday failed him.
