can really crappy balls mess up my game??

Rozroz

G.O.A.T.
my partner brought some weird Dunlop balls called "club all court" i think.
boy they were so weird.
they were hard, but light, looked and felt like awkward. lacking in outer fluff.
the impact sound was different.
but they were not defective.

maybe it was just a bad day, but i was certain they felt like i couldn't have control and they behaved different, like they were skidding on the court more than our regular balls. could this be? balls that don't spin well?
anyway, i always felt i need extra control on my strokes, keeping the balls in.
had too many UEs, inconsistent strokes.

i am not sure 'cause my partner claimed he really enjoyed them, and he played more consistent than me.

could this be? did anyone had similar experience and can point out it was mainly the balls themselves?

thanks.

Yes balls can be very different and some play styles are better for certain balls. I personally can deal with most types but simply will not play with most dunlops. Too hard with real risk of arm injury as a result.

Gamma balls are hard as rocks and will last long after the fuzz has worn off, but are hard to put spin of and control.
I find I can play best with fresh balls, but find it hard to afford on my tight budget.
Penn's seem to have the best combination of longevity and controllability.

i think that's what i mean...

it felt like they were hard, but very thin coated on the outside, like worn out balls :???:
so it felt like they wouldn't get "caught" in the string for more spin..
does this sound logical? anyone else tried the "Dunlop club all court"?

unless i had a bad day, they really made me question my abilities.

IT IS NOT IN YOUR HEAD!!!! don't let anyone tell you it is! Wilson US Open , Dumlop Grand Prix, and Penn ATP are excellent balls. Some high level tournaments use pro Penn regular duty.... ON HARD COURTS! They give no control no spin and fly like you wouldn't believe! I use to thing I just had off tournaments, then I realized that I always played significantly worse at tourneys with certain balls. They only benifit people who just want to hit the ball as hard as they can every time and already have no control to begin with! People will try and say it's in your head, but they are either just slappers, or they're too stupid to realize that there is usually a reason behind playing horrible!!!

well nobody told me it was in my head, i was just wondering.
also, i think good rec players should make the best out of a crappy situation, and adopting to inconsistent balls is a sign of maturity and higher level.
but for a fun match, i agree with all your input.
interesting on what you say that it fits players that like to slam the ball often.
yes my partner was pretty satisfied 'cause those balls made his strokes flatter and dangerous. usually i have a lot easier time dealing with him, and i still won the match, but i DIDN'T ENJOY IT

Oh yes stay away from balls that you feel are ''crappy'' - tennis is hard enough without constantly worrying about the balls you are also using

Hi ,

Was just wondering , how does this figure with the fact Nadal was made to play with crappy balls by his uncle Toni ? Does it matter ? Or should we just be working around what we been given ?
