Can someone explain the 25 team date rule?

I saw a question on college tennis today about fall events counting for "25" team events if more than 4 players played in one event. What is the rule? Is it an ITA or NCAA rule that teams can't play more than 25 team events? Is it just D1 or Power D1? Does it apply to pro events, e.g. teams that take more than 4 players to Futures or Challengers? I used to think teams sent players in the fall to different tournaments so the top players would play the top invites and the lower and bench players would play lower invites, but now I realize they may have split the squads to do 4 and 4 so the invites dont count as a team event.

On college tennis today, the question was related to Ohio State. Someone commented that the All Americans would count as a team event for OSU since 5 guys were in Quali or MD. Since OSU had 6 players play in the Sept Challenger Quali or MD would that also count as a team event? If they have too many fall events with more than 4 players dos that mean they have to limit 4 players to play the Future they host in Nov?

If teams schedule more than one dual match on a single day, does that count as 1 or 2 events? Does the kickoff count as 1 or 2 events? It seems like most teams schedule 23-24 events for spring before conference playoffs so do they end up having to cancel a dual match if too many fall events count as team events?

Thanks. I tried to search for this on ITA or NCAA rules but couldnt find it. If there is a link, please share. Trying to educated myself more on the college game...

Each Team is allowed 25 Team Competition dates. If you send more than 4 players to one event it counts as a "Team Date". Also each individual can only compete in a total of 25 dates. (fall tournament counts as 1, dual matches count as 1). It is a NCAA Rule. If a player plays in more fall tournaments they would potentially have to sit out a contest in the spring.

Thanks. If the team goes to a Futures or Challenger event, does that count against 25 or do only fall ITA sanctioned tournaments count against the 25? I assume Futures/Challengers do not count against individual's 25 since some top players probably play 6 or more pro events in fall and then play 23+ dual matches in spring.

During the spring though a DH only counts as 1 Team Date, many teams will play 2 or matches in a day.
