Can someone tell me how make my grip size larger

Hi can someone tell me how to make my grip size larger without using multiple overgrips or a heat sleeve. I bought a grip size of 1/8 and I am a grip size of 3/8
Thanks:):)

Increasing the grip size by two will likely make the racquet more head light, and increase the weight of the racquet.

Heat sleeves are the standard means of increasing size.

It can also be professionally increased by changing the grip pallet. This would be more expensive, you might be better buying a bigger grip racquet.

You could go to a craft store or home improvement store and increase the size with silicone, caulking, or some clay material.

What would happen if I play with a small grip size

potentially you could have some arm/wrist problems from the grip being too small, but it may also be easier to generate spin... it all depends on your technique and how your body reacts, so you unfortunately likely wouldn't know until you tried it.

Hopefully it's a Head model...if so easy...change the grip pallet...literally takes under 30 minutes from strip down of old grip, removal of butt cap, old pallet (just peel the thing off and don't worry about breaking it...hell it's a 1/8th...who you going to keep it for, a baby), to the installation of the right size, butt cap, new grip and overgrip....all done!

Pallets are $15-$25 (hardest part is finding them), and if you have even elementary mechanical skills it is easy.

You can remove the grip and place strips of athletic tape along the handle. The athletic tape does not weigh much. I use this method myself when I want to adjust the shape of the grip on my Volkls...

This reminds me...Volkls have removable pallets as well!

I increased my racquets' grip size using one over grip under the main (leather) grip and it works fine for me. The weight change was negligible. Obviously, you will lose some of the "crisp" bevel edges but you won't lose the bevel. The grips were #2 and now they play close to #4. Good luck.

Some racquets come with foam handles (like Wilson), so changing the size without affecting the weight is difficult. The Head racquets are easy to do if you can find the handles - there's a forum where those things are sold. I don't know whether or not TWE still sells them.

Another approach would be to buy one used in the size that you want and then sell yours.

I used 4 layers of gauze tape to build my L3 grip to L5. The Gamma brand gauze is much better than the Tourna. To wrap, I used twice as much tape as I would need to wrap the grip once and wrapped with a 1/2 width overlap. I did this twice and topped it off with an overgrip. I still have enough bevel feel, pretty good. Gauze tape adds very little weight.

I would try babolat head tape wrapped around the pallet. Then reapply the original grip but you might want to swap out the original grip for a thicker padded grip. I would think a couple of layers of tape on the pallet, a thicker replacement grip and an overgrip would build it up a bit but I don't know about 2/8ths.

It would probably be a bit rounded and not sharp. I like thin replacement grips so you can feel the bevels.

Is this a real question? If you're just interesting in making it larger, re-wrap the handle with leather after removing what is likely a synthetic grip that is currently on the racquet (Babolat leather grip is best IMO), and then use a standard overgrip. This will not add much weight and, therefore, will not change the balance too much. Some people on here will disagree with me, but the added leather grip should not make that much of a difference on your play. Just my opinion, but you may want to try it. All it will cost you is the replacement leather grip. If it fails, go to plan B.

I should add that I started with a solid Gamma Hi-Tec replacement grip that has very good bevel feel.

Well, I've just added a second grip.
So now I have two grips and an overgrip on my 3/8, since I'm close to 1/2 in size most probably.

I used to have the raquet almost slipping out of my hand (and not hold it properly, i.e. have a couple of fingers hanging...); seems ok now for most strokes (i.e. 1H BH, volleys), not 100% on my FH and serve yet though.
