Can tennis racquets warp???

Can anyone tell me if they know if it is possible for racquets to warp like wood can? I have a habit of leaning my racquets against the wall in my house. Is this bad for them?

Leaning it against the wall with only its weight on itself is easy for them to withstand. Any force or weight applied, then there's no guarantees.

Humm... Somehow I've read some articles (after wood-racket era) say it's still better to hang the rackets with racket heads upward.

I'm going to say YES. I was 16, and playing tournments and hitting with a friend. His dad brought his racquet along, and it was an old LaCroq Sportif one, kinda like a POG, but the middle bar ran verticle instead of horizontal. He said he as it for a very long time. BUT, this thing was definately warped. It was not flat...placed against the concrete sidewalk, it was either concave on when laid down one way, or convex the other. It was HILARIOUS.

...not sure if he left it in the car during the summers or anything. I don't know what he did to it. My coach said to time, while looking at the stick. "...time to get a new one...this one's a goner."

SO. I seen this with my own two eyes. They can warp...but i don't know how to get it to that state. But leaning them against the house shouldn't do anything to them, unless there are environmental issues around.
Plain and simple, gravity alone will not make your racquet warp.

They can warp, but it would take a long time. Wood is a lot less stiff, and a lot less strong than graphite, so where wood might take five years to warp (I don't know, honestly) a graphite racquet would probably take closer to fifteen or twenty, maybe more. Applied force or weight speeds it up.

Yes, they could warp. Leave them in your car on a hot summer day, and you will quickly find out the damage that could happen.

Reminds me one thing. In the past one of my potential girlfriend asked me why I didn't put my badminton racket in trunk of my car so it's always ready to use. I told her that it's no good to the racket, especially graphite since my car was parked outside. And then she yelled at me blah blah blah and emphasized that everyone put their rackets in trunk and why I refused to do so. Oh well... that's one of the reasons why we were never together. Haha.

Yes, without question, graphite racquets can and do warp.

Two of the worst offenders, amongst graphite racquets, were the Dunlop Max 200G (Graf and McEnroe racquet) and the early Head Prestige Pros. You didn't need to leave them out in the sun or do anything in particular to them, they just had a tendency to warp.

Racquets can also warp due to the way in which they were strung.

No, leaning your racquet against the wall is not going to make it warp. Why would you think that?

plus i think leaving your racquets in the trunk with all that heat wouldn't be good for the strings themselves and their tensions. that's my reason for not putting my sticks in my car trunk.

Sometimes, the intelligent nanoparticles suspended in the aerogel molecular matrix in the racquets can escape if the racquet touches a wall. Then they penetrate the wall like termites, and also multiply in that process using their Ncoded genes and K factor chromosomes. The whole house could suddenly crumble one day.
