Can the Joker recover in time...?

Just curious as to your thoughts. Djokovic plays one of the fittest and fastest players on tour tomorrow. He also went through and survived a marathon match today without even 24 hours to recover.

Will he be able to recover physically in time and will this hurt the quality of the match and his performance?

I have been looking forward to this matchup since the draw was listed. And early this week, I thought Rafa was going to have the most difficult path to arriving in the semi's....now, the roles are reversed.

Does this all play into Rafa's hand?

Yes it is going to be hard for Djoko to put up a good performance in this one, he has played 9.5 hours of tennis over the last 2 rounds with no rest days, he was obviously mentally and physically exhausted for the last 3 sets against Bags but got through on his Hewitt like mental toughness.

I would have backed him to win this match comfortably if they had a rest day between matches but now Rafa would have to be a sure thing.

I hope Djoko wears some different shoes tomorrow -- ones that have a little more traction than today's, which will help reduce number of spills he takes from slipping.

Yes, that will mean that he will not be able to slide on the grass the way he was doing in the match against Bags, but given how tired his body must be feeling after so many hours on court, I think it's more important that he has traction and not injure himself.

Hope he plays well -- today!

What about Gasquet?
richard's match only lasted 3 hours and something, against roddick = a server. he didn't play more than 9 hours in 2 days like novak against lleyton and marcos whose game makes you work harder !
the only thing is that he played late... and they still make him play at noon, but if he is tired, i think it will rather be a mental fatigue after such a performance yesterday.

In the previous 5 matches:
Djokovic played 16 hr 45 min (average of 3 hr 21 min per match) whereas
Nadal just played 13 hr 7 min (average of 2 hr 37 min per match).

In last 2 matches:
Djokovic played 9 hr to Nadal's 5 hr.

Based on this statistics, I don't think Djokovic can recover in time. And I won't be surprised if Nadal wins in straight sets just as Federer beat Nadal in Hamburg a few months ago.
