Can we stop overhyping Sinner's performance vs Djoker at Wimbledon last year please (+ stop overhyping Sinner in general)

Yeah, yeah, he won 2 sets vs Djoker on grass. It's meaningless. As a fair few people here had already remarked on, Djoker went into that match with 0 rally tolerance so far at Wimbledon. He was not in form at all. If rallies got past 10 strokes it felt like he was an UE machine. Plus he was donating set 1 or set 2 in matches for fun and this continued even into the final.

Sinner just needed to be able to rally competently to win those sets, like a regen of Berdych on a meh day. I guarantee you had Alcaraz won their 4R match, he would have taken a 2 set lead too. The fact that TvR had such a crap backhand that he couldn't expose Djoker's rustiness in his 4R with Djoker is the only reason he too is not being hyped up as competition for Djoker this year

When the real Djoker showed up, which happened as soon as it needed to - and will happen again if Djoker finds himself 0-2 down at any point at this Wimbledon - Sinner was duly sent to slaughter. The Djoker of the final vs Kyrgios would have eaten him up in 4 sets (after donating the 1st again lol), probably with breadsticks.

Basically it should have even over in 3 if djoker didn't choked in set 1 with a break ahead

Though tbh sinner saw what a higher level on grass is. It's only good that Djokovic helps these new gen raise their level.

Ensuring we fans will see good tennis post Djokovic retirement too ;)

Djoker was awful in the second half of the 1st set and all throughout the 2nd set of last year's QF against Sinner

Thankfully he resumed normal service from the 3rd set onwards to take out the overrated youngster who's made of glass

He played great in that match don’t get me wrong, but I’m quite concerned that half of the year has gone and he’s only achieved Montpellier 250. If it so happened that’s the only title he wins this year, I’d be seriously concerned. Also his slam results are worse than last year

Djokovic fans cannot stop overhyping Sinner and Alcaraz because they *need* for there to be the appearance of adequate competition. Otherwise the charade becomes too transparent.

A player pushing Djokovic to 5 has rarely been an indicator of anything, it's happened something like 15 times en route to slams that he's won.

He's always had the ability to get pushed to deciding sets by players who shouldn't be able to.

Medvedev was on fire going into that final and Nadal was NOT the favorite. Not to mention he actually fought for 5.5 hours. Had Alcaraz done that people wouldn't be complaining.
Yeah Meddy was the favourite sure? With his god damn awful H2H with Rafa and his matchup issue. Nadal was the favourite no matter how you spin it.

Djokovic fans :
Can't be bothered to search famous TTW expert threads who claimed Alcaraz is already ATG , been asked to stop disrespecting Becker, Edberg ,his argument was "YOU WILL SEE"

He nearly lost to FAA and didn't do amazing against Tsitsipas. He was better coming into the final in 2021, but if Ned wasn't that bad in the first 2 sets, the 2022 final could have been over in 4 sets.

Hardly an intimidating performance as it is, but add the choking in sets 3 and 4 on top of that.

Carlos was the favourite against Novak and he too was on fire in the tournament .

I like the Sinner hype meme lol. Not sure why it annoys others sm.

Jannik is a player I don't feel strongly about, but definitely like seeing him playing well. He has a high peak for sure and it's a question of how consistently he can get up to that level. Redlining is also a thing, so one of those tournaments, who knows, the hype might come true. Until then, GPPD memes.

All these next gen are the same. At best case they can give a fight for 2 sets, and then get destroyed in the other 3. Weakest era of all time.

meddy boy btw was the fav by odds before that final vs ndal, just saying, not saying does it mean a lot or not, but its wut it was, we can also say about wut happened after second set or sth else, but purely speaking by odds meddy was
