Against anybody.

Literally anybody.

I only need to hit some to show how good I am, at least for players that are good enough to perceive.

Hackers, OTOH, just keep talking about 'win a match', unable to see what they can't do.

P.S. I do slightly regret not playing in the senior championships in Miami last year.

Just to see the look on people faces when they see someone my age hitting and
moving as well as I do ..... it would have been priceless.

Yes!! Well done!!!

"“You can win if you want to badly enough,” means that the will to win is constant. No amount of punishment, no amount of effort, no condition is too “tough” to take in order to win.

"The way of the warrior is not the easy way"
I lost the totem you told me to use. Should I get another?

Maybe you are in the wrong sport, try track and field.

Am I supposed to have an American CC if I am not American?
I stand by the offer and since I have to book in advance, there is no risk for anyone involved other than me. So, you willing to ensure the match happens?
it was a joke.

Court at Bills Jean are like $38/hr.

Where are the $100 courts? LIC?

Court in the video is free if it’s the chanberz court.
wow, you're good at this... thx for volunteering to setup & coordinate the court times :p

what's more likely to work...
"hi can you hit with a stranger, at a court that's a bridge away, during an offpeak time because it's cheaper... and i'll pay?"
or
"hi can you hit with a stranger, at a court & time that's convenient to you... i'll pay.?"

up to $225: https://nypost.com/2018/07/18/upper-east-siders-are-sick-of-this-expensive-tennis-bubble/

Would be great but her only comment so far has been ‘ lol that’s interesting stuff’:D
but your comment was very open ended... "ie. read this interesting thread"... not "jolly is our nyc-based 5.0, and I (as "curious") bet that he can't beat you... would you be up for the challenge? gyswandir & fire have offered to pay for an indoor court at a time/place convenient to you."

Sure Mr. Google you can find expensive courts in every city. I wasn’t doubting you.

Midtown after 9pm used to be like $70. I played there all the time.

Play at HRP or Chambers then. It’s free.

Moast of the top tier 4.0 players in Manhattan can be found at HRP waiting on the bench for a court.

Well I think she must be reading the thread so it’s up to her. We don’t also know whether she is still in NY.

yeah, when i lived in the city, learned where all the cheap courts are too... (then further whittled that down to "cheap + avail" - back then it was most convenient to drive my motorcycle to prospect park (i lived in the east vill) - short wait times, valid with nyc tennis permit)...

even now i'll occasionally drive to sutton east or roos island and pay to play with my buddies (a known quantity of good players).

but imagine if i'm some stranger, and i ask if you want to play.... you have no idea if i'm any good, or the kind of person i am...
would you be willing to go wait at HRP or Chambers "for a while".
or would you more likely play, if i made it super convenient (time & location)?

side question... given there are only 3 courts... do the good players let other good players "play in"? (ie. split the court)
i do this at some busy courts in ct... wondering if folks at HRP have the same camaraderie.

i recall showing up at HRP many times (when i lived in the city), only to have 3-4 folks waiting in front of me, with no clear endtime for folks on the courts... so essentially my wait time was "unlimited"... i've definitely waited over an hour, or just given up completely after a long time. IMO not worth it. maybe not as bad these days with smart phones to entertain while waiting (not to mention plenty of volley drills to do while waiting)

No wonder we don’t see any more champions from the US!
Here in Melbourne I pay 23 aussie $ per month to have unlimited access to courts including lights in the evening. And no more champions from Australia either. Wait, what?!:p

You’re mistaken porky doodle.

The only time you can get jacked for courts at HRP is when some high school practices there during the day. Otherwise, courts are strictly one hour usage when there is a wait. I lived on that bench for 5 years. I know HRP pretty well. :)

yeah, it's been a while.
who enforces that 1hr? honor system?
i must have just given up, after seeing "a bunch" of folks ahead of me, and calculated it was gonna be longer than 1hr wait.
in general i used to live in the east vill, so biking over there, only to find a long line, was discouraging to me.... so much so that i pretty much gave up playing tennis when i lived in the city after a while...

HEY, she'd probably win a game or 2.:p

BTW, I'm soon to be, in all probability, one of the best ever 55 y/o mover and big-hitter
on a Tennis court. [can play the 'game' as well, IF I wanted to]

How about setting a match up between us, a new 'battle of the sexes.

P.S. I'd be willing to post some video of me hitting against a great net player,
which will show how incredibly accurate I can hit, when given a target.

That's IF I get enough positive encouragement.
do you only play with folks post hip & knee replacement? you certainly are an amazing mover in that crowd.

She got some weird serve instruction tips in this video at around 14:56
Is the coach trying to teach her to pancake a flat serve? The swing path he demonstrates does not look like a natural throwing motion and may lead to shoulder problems.

What he demonstrated as a "bad" follow-thru on her serve seems like an okay relaxed finish?

Also, if she has shoulder pain, his advice seems like it may not help.

I’d love to come see that in person. Let me know if it actually happens.

BTW, I saw many guys “your age” who hit great and move very well. They also win tournaments and dont hide behind a keyboard babbling about how good they are at rallying.

he's saying to hold the wrist follow through, until after you've extended your arm fully (ie. at the end of the whip).
regarding the fh demo prior to that, he was saying that the equiv is, prematurely bending the elbow for the fh (vs. extending out, then letting elbow bend, letting the racquet "wrap around"

Seems like bad advice, unless you want flat shots, but her shots are all flat so I guess its no suprize considering her coach.

personally i agree with the advice... at least that's how i model my serve/fh, etc...

If I understand correctly he says you should not fully pronate out but rather hit through and down, and to hit fh straight through instead of windshield wiper around
i think he was exaggerating the push through and down..
i think the main point is to ideally make contact with elbow straight, rather than prematurely bent

Honor system yeah. I almost broke some Russian guy’s face with an Arthur Ashe Comp when he tried to defy that system. It was a violent interlude. HRP was the holy land of 4.0 Immortals in the 1990s. My God the battles that occurred there will be written into the historic canons of modern Craigslist tennis partner meetup immortality.

Craigslist.

So many epics and tragedies from that magical place.

I have several years worth of New York City Craigslist tales that if recorded or shared here it would cause shockwaves and immediate action from 4.0 level TT forum moderators.

So many backhand sprays on Forest Hills grass court 1 for Craigslist random Mixed doubles agony. So many purchased Craigslist authentic Rolex’s. So many walks in Little Italy waving fists at Suresh in the sky, drunk on Craigslist Kevlar RF 88 flavored love.

Whenever I see a news headline that contains the words 'Craigslist' or "Florida man", I don't have to even click to read the article. I know it will be about love and peace.

On myutr she played matches against some females with 11utr and got creamed against all of them easily, so i would guess she is around 9-10utr female, which is quite good but a 9-10utr male should win like 80% of the time.
