Can You Repair Roger's Game

There is no doubt in my mind that there's no way Roger has the same motivation he had earlier. Even though he's probably one of the few greats who really loves tennis.

He's still good enough to beat anyone except the top 3, and can beat them as well given a bit of luck and things going his way.

He is no longer going to be able to dominate the way he used to and I bet that's the really hard part to come to grips with mentally.

I cant see him winning another slam.

not after what I saw at the u.s. open.

still some say that star may line up for him somewhere. perhaps at Wimbledon.

the problem is that he can probably take out nole on grass with his game but dealing with andy or nadal will be much tougher there.

and they all will be ready next year.

so basically somebody has to knock out andy and nadal in order for roger to make a big charge at Wimbledon.

Federer lost in the 1st round at the 2003 French Open and 2002 Wimbledon and he ended up winning Wimbledon 2003. So it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

1) Go party
2) do something to get his mind off tennis for a bit
3) Just go out there and play man. You are already Roger Federer. Just play the game.

With what can Federer be motivated? It must be really hard to get up for it at this point, when he appears to be just playing for fun. I hope, given his apparent frustration with losing, that he gets really angry and finds the fire to win. I do think part of it's getting old, but part of it is that he was on the top for soooooo long it's got to be hard to maintain that kind of dedication/will.

that looks like vilas in your avi.

he is one of my all time favorite players.

It's perplexing - whatever's gone wrong with Fed. It's not just old age, loss of form or motivation. Sure there is some of that, but doesn't explain it all. Could be persistent injuries that Fed hasn't talked about and this could be why he's overhitting his ground strokes and making UFEs like pulling the inside in FH way wide.
Maybe it's because Fed was always a good front runner, but now that his form has come down, he's having real trouble and any and all of his weaknesses such as the topspin BH during rallies are coming into sharp focus. Opponents are no longer going into the match thinking they are going to lose.
Yeah, maybe a lot of it is confidence.

it loss of some motivation that is making him lazy on the court. you don't forget your shots over night.

he just does not want to dig in, hold his ground, and fight to the death.

no way in hell should robredo have been able to run him off the court in straights on the hard courts.

I also think he is running scared of nadal which is not cool in my book.
