I vote for Canada for the win but do not feel it will be easy. As Harper said in today's interview, the U.S. has been the most consistent in the tournament and have beat us once already. There is a lot of talent our guys are facing and I wish both teams the best of luck.

I think its hard to beat a team twice. I say Canada wins 3-2. If the Canadian hockey players lose, not only do they lose their gold, they lose their citizenship.

It's tough to beat them twice, I agree. Not to mention that they have 13 NHL all stars on that team and the greatest player of all time looking on..on the other hand, it's another medal for the USA in the standings, so that's a good thing.

If the Canadians get too cocky on this thread I can edit my earlier post.

Theres two things I'm worried about,

- Canada should NOT have let those two goals in by Slovakia the dying seconds of the game. It's a cause for concern, what if we decide to foolishly squander a lead tomorrow?
- Canada might be stupid and put in Brodeur

So if Canada wins then they get the gold medal? But then it'd be 1-1. If the U.S. wins, the U.S. should win the gold medal because they'd have a 2-0 lead. But if Canada wins, they should hold another game and whoever wins that wins the gold. The winner should be ahead 2-1 at least. Not win with a 1-1 split.

That's not really how the tournament is set up... Have you looked at the brackets?

No, I searched but couldn't find the brackets, just articles. But am I right that if Canada wins, then they have the gold medal, even though the U.S. and Canada would have won one game against each other.

Yes but it's set up like this:

There's a preliminary round and then a medal round. It would be like in the masters cup. If you beat someone when you play in the group round robin, you have a 1-0 lead. But if they beat you in the finals of the draw that comes out after the group round robin, they won the master's cup. It's 1-1, but they won the cup. Make sense?

It is similar to the IIHF if you are familiar. Do you remember how Canada beat the U.S. on New Year's Eve only to be followed by the U.S. beating them for the title? Technically, it was 1-1 but the U.S. still won the tournament.

Ok, that's how I thought it went. If Canada takes the gold it seems a bit unfair to the U.S. But that is how it's set up, so I don't mean to imply cheating. Just that it seems a flawed system, that's all.

Thanks for the link.

Well, it seems to be something common in many sports. I think it adds an interesting element. Yes, the US beat Canada in the preliminary rounds, but when the pressure is really on in the finals, who takes the Gold? That sort of thing... Just my opinion...

Tough to beat Canada twice. Like lightning striking twice. We might beat them once, and now we've used it up!

Game is on at 3:15 EST.

If Ryan Miller continues to play like Ryan Miller, the USA should win. Canada will get their SOG, so he will have to make some amazing saves like he did the first time around. However, Canada also showed some vulnerability against Slovakia, so the US may be able to study that and expose any potential flaws.

Should be a physical game...4-2 US (with empty netter). Canada's goalies have been shaky this tournament, and if there is anyone who knows how a shaky goalie can make a good team lose a game despite outplaying their opponents, it's Blackhawks fans.

If Ryan Miller gets hurt in some freak play or has an off night, then Canada will win something like 6-3.

The third period is going to be a battle. The US is finally showing some life out there, but they are turning the puck over WAAAAAAAY too much, and you can't win a game that way.

Alrighty. Fresh ice, fresh 20 of 4 on 4 hockey.

If the US wins, Ryan Miller deserves 2 gold medals just for some of the saves he's made today.

Epic match with the late equalizer by Parise. The match 'd have been over by now had Sidney Crosby scored when he broke away.

Great game! And no TV commercials at all, except at the intermissions. And the best part? No Mary Carillo to ruin everything!!!

He had control but failed, like he had failed in this whole olympics.Didn't you read/see the (over) hype surrounding him leading into the olympics?

Sidney Crosby s overrated.

I don't know much about him I don't watch much hockey but this is exciting
