Can't find my style of playing.

My game is a complete mess right now. I love my two handed backhand, but i also enjoy playing slice - but you either play one or another. One day I would love to heavy topspin into one corner and another with the forehand, on the others i enjoy bunting the ball back flat or with sidespin like Tomic. One one day i would wake up and think i wanna serve and volley today. The other days i just want to run down every ball playing soft topspin into the middle.

When facing an even or stronger opposition, my game is a complete mess, and when I try to stick to one style I feel is the optimal, i make a lot of unforced errors and feel unconfident.

This happened to me about 10 years ago. I learned to play the game as a SnV player in high school. When my serve deteriorated enough that I started to losing to people I used to beat, it sent my game into a state of confusion. I had zero forehand, so I couldn’t win from the baseline. But serve-and-volley without a dominating serve is just a faster way to lose.

I gained confidence by going all-in on a defensive counterpuncher mindset. My results started to improve again. More recently, I’ve re-tooled my forehand and serve to give me more style options against certain opponents, but I know now that my Plan A in singles is counterpunching.

More extrem grips often advantegous for baseline play or more conservativ grips for more net plays - maybe it helps (?)

Maybe you could transform tennis norms and become tennis' first all-court pusher. Hit a powerful serve come in and only hit paceless lob volleys or soft drop volleys. No drive volleys allowed. Hit Droppers off the BH side and moonballs off the FH side and follow the deep ones in. Then change it up and hit only slice deep off the BH side and flat FH's with pace.

Sounds like a tough player!

u have to have both. When the balls are at waist height or higher, crank the two handed. when the balls are low, slice it back. Hard to two hand topsin a ball that the opponents have sliced low.

I'd start the search with where have you last seen you style of playing.
perhaps nobody took it, and it's still waiting for you.
alternatively, did you try a lost & found office?
