In Puerto Vallarta (PV), Mexico the red clay courts near the Canto del Sol resort have been slowly declining over the past few years. Sadly, I found the last two were so badly damaged they are no longer playable. Nets gone, clay scattered and lines barely intact. Talking with some locals, they think the resort has decided to redevelop the space as the tennis was no longer the money maker it once was. There are four covered indoor hard courts available, but they have been used for night shows in the past, so who knows if they will stay? The loss of these classic red clay courts in PV is tragic, as there is nothing else in the area like it.
