CAP grommets in a MG Radical MP?

Hey, I was wondering is it possible to buy the set of Microgel Prestige MP CAP grommets and use them on the MG Radical? I'm thinking of buying the Microgel Radical and like the paint job but wish the racquet were more heavier, plus I like the look of Andy Murray's racquet. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.:)

Hey Carlos,
I know that ithas been done by couple people on here. I am not sure which CAP system that they used and how much tweaking was involved.

I am under the impression that there is not a cap system that fits the MG radicals without a little tinkering.
I would like to think that the MG Prestige MP caps ould fit, but am not sure.

Hey Johnathan,
Yes, I thought it could be done but I wasn't sure. It's just that I have a two-handed backhand and the grip on the prestige is very small. Is the grip any longer on the MG radical? Also, what sort of tinkering is involved?

If the MG Prestige MP grip was to short for you than just re-wrap the grip so it is longer (finishes higher up on the racquet).

Anyway Murray uses the MG Prestige Pro with the MG Radical MP paint Job.

See how high-up Murray grips his MG Prestige Pro.

Hey Carlos,
I am not sure, but would imagine that the grips on the rads would be longer//
Chris in Japan, capped an MG radical, but I don't know which capps he used and I think he had to do some serious tinkering.
Hopefully someone chimes in with some good info.

I believe the normal 98" Prestige CAPS should fit... many users have done it before although there seem to be differences in how difficult... some found it to be relatively easy whilst others seem to have had to jiggle it a bit and some even forcing them in.... it seems like Head may have changed the spacing slightly between radical models which is why there's differences in opinion.

On an aside, before Murray used the Prestige Pro i believe it was a CAP'd i.Radical MP

I think Chris used a Microgel prestige MP grommet set if I read the post correctly. It's just I really hate to add lead tape to a racquet as it spoils the cosmetics so I reckon this is a good way to weight the radical up, plus add lead tape to the handle. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this tinkering because soon I want to get the grommet set and tell my coach how to do it. I bet he hasn't had to do this before!!!!:)
Also, thanks for your responses, they're really helpful!

Carlos one of the good things about CAPs...

If you add CAPs and still find it not heavy enough, remove them, place the lead tape on the outside of the frame and then reapply the CAPs.... may be a little more hassle refitting them but the CAPs should then hide the lead tape.

The drill pattern is the same but the grommet channel is different and the beam is design different on the Prestige MP . The Radical since the Ti.Radical has a rounder more aerodynamic type beam shape while the Prestige is a box type beam shape. That is why it is harder to put C.A.P.'s on a modern MG Radical MP. That is why I suggested to the OP to just re-wrap his grip higher on the MG Prestige to accommodate the two handed backhand.

On a Side note Murray before the MG Prestige Pro used the original yellow and Black Radical Trisys 260 MP with the i.Radical PJ. Murray preferred how his racquets played with the flat matte paint of the i.Radical. He did try LM paint job on his Radical Trisys 260 MP but like that Flat Matte paint better.

Thanks for that piece of information vsbabolat...

I remembered from a while back that someone had posted it was an i.radical so went searching on the forums.

I found your posts linking to Thomas Martinez's posts about it being an older Radical Tour version like you stated.

However I also found the post I was looking for which was uk_skippy who had strung his racket up at Wimbledon and he said it was pretty much an i.radical... clicky and clicky

i do trust both posters with their information however they seem to be contradicting each other here..

I have a question for you. Please look at the photo of this racquet.

The only thing I will tell you is that it has i.Prestige MP C.A.P.'s

Does this racquet above look the same as the racquet in uk_skippy's machine?

Sorry but to be honest i'm quite useless myself at noticing differences in rackets etc. which is why i rely on other posters :?

So currently (without anyone pointing out anything specific) they seem to be the same...

Was there something i was supposed to see ?

They are the same because both are out of the Pro Tour 630 mold with a paint job of the i.Radical MP. The paint is just like a real i.Radical with everything the way it should be on the commercial model. That is the point of a paint job.
With all due respect to uk_skippy I unfortunately disagree with him. Murray used a PT57. Like Thomas Martinez said. It was no real i.Radical MP.

FYI: The Pro Tour 630, Original Radical Trisys 260 MP, and Radical Tour TwinTube 630 all used the same molds. When th Ti.Radical came out is when the mold changed on the Radical line and is what you see today with the MG Radical MP.
