The Australian Open tuneup exhibition tournament is just 6 days away and I saw that there was no thread for it.

How exciting! Wonder if there is a web stream of the event.

I think it may be a clash of the titans again (Fed vs Nadal).

Weather wise its pretty nice.. around 76F.

It wouldn`t be a surprise if Davydenko wins this.He is the guy who wants the money more then the others.

i've read that nadal has not taken a long break from the 2009 season and is very energized to start the 2010 season i think this will translate in a win at this tournament for rafael!!!

Blinkism, thank you for setting us up for this exhibition! I am very excited to see my favorite, Rafael, starting off the 2010 season with this event in Abu Dhabi. But now my main question:

I live in the US (no muffled jeers from the rest of the world, please - :))...so where in the heck can I watch a live stream of this particular event?

Any tips from our TW community will be MOST appreciated!!! I'm even willing to pay for a live stream, though I'm no fool and would clearly prefer a good free one. But whatever...

Thanks in advance to those who can help!

You should try atdhe.net or channelsurfing.com the day of the match.

You can check in during the day of the match or right before the actual match- I'm sure that someone, if not yours truly, will post some links to free streaming online.

The first match will be Tsonga vs. Davydenko at 3pm Abu Dhabi time- for your timezone, Outbeyond, I think that's 6 am. Then, that match will be followed by Wawrinka-Soderling.

Looking forward to seeing some great tennis soon! :)

I think Davydenko's going to win this. For some reason I see Soderling beating Federer for the first time here, and then losing it in the final to Davy.

Is Tennis channel carrying this event ?? and they should bring back Rebound Ace.... RAFA will be unbeatable then..

At last some tennis, even if it's an exho! And what a field?
Is Wawa sure for this?He just got married after all.

My vote goes to Tsonga.:) Hope bet365 shows this.

I think if Nadal gets through Davydenko, he would have a very good chance of taking the title. Kolya is probably the toughest opponent for Nadal in the tournament.

I still haven't decided. I believe that neither federer nor nadal will play their best level . . . but I'm not sure who will

tennistv.com isn't scheduled to broadcast any matches until February, so we can only hope that SOMEbody has some cameras set up! :(

Updated regarding Tsonga

Jo-Wilfriend Tsonga has withdrawn from Abu Dhabi (and Doha, also).

The French player and his coach have decided that he is not ready for these tuneup tournaments and will, instead, attend the Kooyong Classic exhibition tournament in Melbourne before the Australian Open.

Tsonga, who injured himself during a training session earlier this week, is disappointed he will not be making his first appearance in Abu Dhabi. The French number one has been advised by his coaching staff to rest ahead of the Australian Open after suffering the injury.
Tsonga said:
“I am extremely disappointed not to be able to participate in the Capitala World Tennis Championship due to an injury. I hope that I will come to participate in years to come but in the meantime I wish everyone there a good event and best wishes for 2010.”

Tsonga's announcement comes within a day and a half of the beginning of the exhibition tournament.

In his place, the organizers of the Capitala World Tennis Championship have announced David Ferrer will replace Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at this week’s tournament.

“It’s great to have the opportunity to play in Abu Dhabi and I am very much looking forward to getting the season underway and joining some of the best players in the world for this tournament,” said Ferrer.
“Davydenko is always a tough opponent, particularly considering how well he has been playing lately, and I’m looking forward to playing him again.”

Does somebody know, where it's possible to watch the matches online?
I'm with you, but we're all going to start sharing website links within the hour before the matches begin on New Year's Eve (12/31). I live in the US where that damned bet365 is banned and not available, for some reason, so I'm going to be extra interested in links I can use that are NOT problematic. In any case, some kind folks here gave earlier online tips and Blinkism said he'd pass on some links the day of the match as well.

Stay tuned!!!!

I don't see Federer putting a tremendous effort into winning this, I see a
Nadal-Soderling final.

Time to lay the Sod down on Nadal once again!!!!!

It would be really stupid to put on a all-star event like this and Not broadcast it all over the world. That would be a waste of such event.:???:

Although Davydenko has had Nadal's # lately, I would really like to see a Fed - Rafa final. It could be a long while until we get one again, and could be even longer till we get one on a HC...... or it could be in 2.5 weeks

This site says it will post a link half an hour before the matches for streaming.

All I could find, but I think atdhe and other sites will post it up a few hours before the match.

Thanks, Blinkism! I've also spent some time bookmarking other potential stream sites for us all and will be testing them just before the match begins/right after match begins and posting them as well. Hopefully, we'll all have someplace to see the action one way or the other.

I'm excited...we'll see you all very soon, indeed!!

Wawrinka will win 1st set then get nervous at the thought of beating a Top 8 player as always.... Davydenko will outhit Ferrer (barely)
sounds about right ...... Davy owns the h2h w/David 2-1 ... plus he's won their last two meetings, one on clay and one on hard .... Davy's probably just too hot on hard right now for Ferrer's game, but the one thing we know about David F is that he's gonna put up a great fight! :)

Lol.......:mad::shock::-?
okay. I get it. Youre challenging me to prove I'm psychic by guessing which one you think will win? You want me to check whom you voted for in the poll? ???

===

nvm ... I just checked and saw you voted for Nadal ... I'm inclined that way myself ....... so I'll assume you want Stan to be the man in 8 hours ... right?
