Carlos Alcaraz calls out Djokovic [!]

Good from Carlos, every tennis fan, expert, people all over the world was calling Novak out, after he got GS 24, and then even more so, at Olympics 2024, and now ... in total shock and respect, winning this epic another goat defining moment, no matter what happens rest of the week.

Let's join them:

It's called pain medication taking effect. It's not as extreme but it's like when Nadal applied a nerve block to his foot to win the French Open.
Christ knows the damage he'll have done by masking the problem like that and playing through it. Let's see how absolutely shagged he is in the next match.

Alcaraz was clearly bothered by it, he even mimicked a limp after losing the third set (4:25)

Djokovic raised his level despite the injury, and that obviously rattled Alcaraz. At the end of the day, you can't think or worry about how hampered your opponent looks; just focus on your own game.

If anyone watched the match, Nole was landing punches deep into the court and Carlos displayed significant impatience bc he couldn’t hit knockout level forehands and backhands.
Maybe learn better point construction and patience? Stop asking your coach what to do on every point? Ehhh?

Oh here comes the whining and rationalizing … sinner will show this little child how it’s done and what you do to old yeller. When he pops old man Djoker for a couple breadsticks.

Tough alpha males don't take MTOs and fake injury/illness either

Carlos is a stand up guy and he knows that was BS from Novak.

This was absolutely a callout

"I'm not saying he did a show, but"

Translation: He did a show

Tiny was angry he couldn't keep up with an injured Novak's in the 2nd set. Tiny was lucky to even get the first set. It should've been in straights.

You definitely can it’s pretty natural and frankly understandable

Good for Charlie for calling out Egg’s typical possum routine that he’s been doing since 2004. It’s amazing anyone takes Egg’s injury tales seriously. By comparison Egg makes Vamos seems like the healthiest player in history.

I’m not hapoy with Alcaraz mentioning this. I know he was asked the question but there were ways to brush this off and not get into any bad discussions.

It kind of reminds me of the weird grey area he was in after 2023 RG where Novak was living rent-free.

Alcaraz is too pure and too good a player to descend to this sort of disasters in oress conferences. He is not adversarial. He is at his best when he is happy and just focusing on his own game and playing the point rather than the opponent.

Nah F that

Novak and Sinner deserve to get called out for the way they work the refs and the rules. It's shameless

And Carlos is Mr Positivity 100% of the time. Much more than Federer was. People will stop and listen, coming from him.

Maybe he needs a little adversarial edge in him to beat players who are engaging in these tactics.

Bud needs to focus on himself.

I was supporting Djokovic like hell before the match started, and Alcaraz is being a sore loser.

But you have to be absolutely blind to not see Djokovic doing "Oh I am dead" act from middle of set 1 onwards till end of second.

The proof is on footage. The proof is on commentary. The proof is in Carlos reaction. That is pathetic.

Carlos lost focus. His fault.

But you have to be absolutely blind to not see Djokovic using his possum tactics.

Come on guys. Djokovic might be the goat but we all know he’s full of crap and he’s sick in his head. He’s been doing this for the last 20 years, and he’s been called out for it every time., but he doesn’t give a damn.

As long as he keeps winning with these tricks he won't stop. And we just keep smiling and nodding along with it and mocking the players he beats

Alcaraz cramped in the match as well.

Fair. For me Alcaraz is always at his best playing the ball and not the man. Some players thrive on agitation and adversarial engagement and other players occupy a rarified air above it all, and it’s an unhelpful distraction for them to descend to polemics.

Alcaraz is almost always on the right side of an argument, thats a given. Even last night he had a point against Eva Asderaki who is literally never wrong lol, but it didn’t serve his cause to labour the point there, and discussing the Djokovic injury doesn’t help his cause (my 2 cents).

Players like Alcaraz, Federer, Nadal hold their power in reserve. They never get into this crap and so when they do, people stop what they're doing and pay attention

Polar opposite would be Kyrgios, who spits a lot of facts but bc he's such a loudmouth and always beefing with someone, it's easy to brush off what he says.

But when the game's foremost sportsman says it then you know it's legit. And maybe will give the commentators some courage to talk about it more.

OP is the Rothenberg of this board. Manufacturing controversy where there isn't any
Only when it’s Novak. They are a well-known Nadal fan who couldn’t accept it when he was passed in 2023. The Djoko hate propaganda has been massive coming from them for years now.

So Alcaraz couldn’t play good while he could see Djokovic playing good in set 3/4. lol why?

It wasn’t the distraction, after a while. It was the ruthlessness of ground strokes which kept Alcaraz off balance in all rallies which cost him the match. Was out hit by 10 kmph on both wings yesterday by an older opponent who was playing lights out tennis. Imagine having 140kmph avg forehand speed for a set, let alone a rally and 135 kmph + avg forehand speed for a match! It was that devastating what Djokovic produced last night!

Wow, that was actually a pretty clear statement.

Nah he didnt call novak out, reporters just found a way to make their headline again, i was expecting tennis questions in his presser but the questions were so stupid and pointless that i really rolled my eyes at the first few, i was thinking to myself, man if could be there asking questions to Alcaraz after this match i sure wouldnt ask those silly questions that nobody really cares about, just ask him about the tactical and mental aspects, ask him why he didnt adjust his position when he couldnt return djokos second serve, i dont know, ask him about tennis.
