Note sure if someone pointed this out before but I count only 19 crosses in this picture?

That photo is from clay season this year Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell 2022 Day Three (if they are labeled correctly)

It appears the lowest cross is not strung but the grommet for it is present.

Other photos from the same day show 20 crosses, every later photo I've seen has 20 crosses, his next match on day six, seven, the next tournament...

I think it was only one frame he played with that day, who knows if it was intentional or a accident by the stringer.

look at post #290
Cant you quote it? Anyway i know a guy said the same, well he lying, i got carlos real racquet and is 330g unstrung, big swingweight, pro frame, if he swang a 305g racquet he would bend it after 5 balls, its just so funny you all got to actually believe he was playing with the same racquet many rec players use

which is lighter
we dont know his specs then, besides he is not 17 anymore, he has put almost 10 kg in and is much stronger now, can the number one in the world be the pro player with the lightest frame?

This thread is exactly why they don't. This frame was barely selling and now, it will sell like crazy. Big money in "marketed perception".
Outside TTW forum nobody cares about pro stock racquets. That’s why they don’t care about this thread… unless they already realized that TTW posters are so racketholics that they represent 20% of sales;)

They key information here is flex and layup as we all know pro stock racquets are built with a custom layup and given how important is Carlito to Bab brand future he might be playing with 55RA Pure Aero VS...

Definitely custom layup and RA. I think it's funny how some people believe that he's playing with a stock PAVS. It might be the same mold. But not even close to a stock retail VS. No way.

i honestly find it hard to believe too, but a lot of reliable looking info has been spread about it, so aparently, he could be using something very similar to stock, maybe he just got used to that swingweight from very young and he just knows how to create that massive RhS with that set up, it makes sense since older players started using heavy frames very early on, and developed their muscle memory with heavier sticks

Or you can just compare Alcaraz and Rune, who both play with the same frame, Rune at 350sw and Alcaraz at ~330sw, are the same age group, physical build and even style of play

The thing about Alcaraz is that he’s an anatomical freak of nature. Enormous hands for better grip strength and control over the racquet, the wingspan of a typical 6’5” player for leverage and power usually only seen with big men, and short powerful legs for speed and change of direction usually only seen with smaller players than him. Even if you use Alcaraz’s racquet, it won’t feel to you anything like it does for him.

2-3 years ago this guy was special but not so special that Babolat would make a super custom racquet for him.

It's very likely that he's playing with close to retail specs, just like he was likely playing with close to retail specs 2-3 years ago.

The only difference now is that all of his racquets are identical, which was probably not happening 2-3 years ago.

You could say that about ANY pro yet virtually ALL of them use custom racquets you CAN NOT buy. It could be simple as Carlos team requesting Pure Aero 2016 Layup for million reasons or lower flexibility in the hoop due to his arm issues. Babolat will bake it for him and off he goes

Does anyone knows if Alcaraz is still using a Pure Aero VS with new paintjob or he changes to the new Pure Aero 98.
Also, is there a big difference between these 2 rackets?

How could we know if there are any big differences between the PAVS and the new PA98 coming out in January? It's not out yet.
