Carlos Alcaraz wins first ATP match

He is doing pretty well recently. Won't turn 18 until next may and last week won the challenger in Barcelona beating Dzumhur in the final 46, 62,61. In his current challenger he is again in the QF already.

He is already ranked 158 now and could be like 120 at the end of the year if he continues playing well.

I think next year he has a good chance to enter to top70 as an 18 year old which hasn't happened too often in the last 15 years.

Probably has a better chance of winning 14 RG than Ruud:)

I hope for him nadal stays good another 2-3 years so the next nadal pressure doesn't grow too big on him as apart from him there isn't many good young Spanish players coming up and the pressure will be huge.

Alcaraz won his second challenger in a row today. He made the final with 3 consecutive 3 set wins and today beat 1 seeded world number 97, fellow Spaniard Martinez Potrero in straight sets (76,63).

Especially on clay he is in really good shape and should enter the top100 pretty quickly in 2021, maybe even before his 18th birthday (may 5).who was the last to achieve that?

I think his coach wants to avoid the nadal comparison. I don't think he quite plays like either. Obv double handed BH and more of a baseline game is closer to nadal but really not quite either. He reminds me more a bit of his coach Ferrero with his Forehand attacking style.

I was a big Ferrero fan during his career...glad to see that he's still a part of the game.

Wish he had played Rafa pre-chicken pox....
