Carlos losing would be a disaster for the tour

Think about this, younger Djok lost to Thiem at RG twice...

Imagine old Djok beating world #1 Carlos... a SIXTEEN year age gap...

It would make an absolute mockery out of it. Last year we saw a subpar 36 year old Nadal handle Djok fairly comfortably.

If this kid is going to be pumped up as much as they have been doing, then he has to deliver. To those who still want to blow the Alcaraz trumpet despite if he loses, then they must also admit there is no excuse for Federer losing to Djok then in 3 Wimbledon finals...

Personally, I believe Fed lost those because of age... and I also believe that if a 36 year old Djok can beat world #1 Carlos... then Alcaraz is not much chop and will only make a career out of being the best of the TikTok gen...

You don’t care about the tour lol—you just don’t want Djokovic getting 23.

Nice way to generalise...

This sport has been a part of my life long before Nadal and will be after...

Maybe you're still salty about Fed falling behind both of them...

The fact is, if Carlos can't beat a 36 year old Djok, then it will be hard to see how the tour can be taken seriously once Nadal and Djok retire...

So by that logic 37 year old getting out of top 100 is outstanding for the tour?

Have you seen that 37 year old play? If he was still in the top 100 after missing a total of about 9 months and playing garbage in the other 3 then time for the tour to pack it in...

He's the man to beat so he won't lose. Djokovic is less confident than him as he lost a set to a Karen. Why are you people so worried? Djokovic has lost to tons of players on clay so getting beat by the next Atg is no big deal.

He's barely 20 years old...

Well, tbh it's all been hype that he's the next ATG... this is where he's going to have to prove it. Fail here, and its curtains.

So even if he does lose… I think Carlos could still redeem himself with wins at Wimbledon or Australia. If he beat Djokovic on either court then it would be impossible to write him off or mock him.

This whole thing is moot anyways. We all know who is winning on Friday, some just haven’t come to terms with it yet.

And he's the world #1...

and Djok is closer to 40 than he is 30...

People compare this guy to teen/young Nadal, well teen/young Nadal sent peak Federer packing every time they played at RG...

Yeh but Djokovic is also the greatest sportsman of the 21st century so the shame would be less. Perfect opportunity for uncle GOAT to show he's truly the chosen one.

Wow.

But why do you think he'll fail? Have you not watched his last match, even when he had a lapse he still won in straights. He also had better opponents than Novak had and yet still straight setted them. Friday can't come long enough for you Alcaraz doubters to stop making these threads.

Isn't this more about 23-22 anyway? "A disaster for the tour."

Where did I say I think he'll fail?

Personally, I think he gets the job done in 4... this thread is about the repercussions of him losing...

If he loses, he'll win 17 Slams instead of 14. Hey, it might be an idea to lose after all, no?

Djokovic has more chances at Wimbledon or Ao than the French open, and still he might not win them. He's getting older and older while Carlos is only just beginning.

Agree with you... not like he's a prolific winner at the USO and I don't expect him to win RG. Wimbledon is his best bet and I will have him as the favourite there though. But who the heck knows #22 could even end up being the end for the old geezer. (I doubt it though.)

You know it’s true—come on now.

You know it’s true—come on now.

Who are you freaking kidding? Do you honestly see Djok losing at Wimbledon? Or next year's AO? To who? He's getting the slam record regardless of whether I or anyone else wants him to or not...

Stick to the topic instead of trying to derail it into another GOAT war...

Djokovic lost to Musetti at Monte Carlo, Rune at Rome, and to Lajovic at a 250 clay event. It would definitely be bad for the tour if he beats Alcaraz, as it would be business as usual: They can beat him in BO3 but not in BO5...not even the young gun sensation. Dignity would be restored only if Ruud/Zverev beats Nole in the final.

But I think only a mental breakdown can stop Alcaraz from beating Nole, and I don't see that happening. I think Carlos will be salivating the moment.

Carlos seems closer to the finished article than any of the Big 3 did at his current age so it wouldn't be a great look for him to lose no. He needs to restore the natural order, Safin and Hewitt crushed PETE at the USO, PETE himself beat Mac and Lendl on the way to his maiden slam and so on. If Tsitipas can be up 2-0 on a much better Djokovic then surely Alcaraz should do better...

Don’t worry OP. Alcaraz will win fairly comfortably. This won‘t be as close as some think. Alcaraz is in peak form and Djoko has declined on clay and it’s his weakest surface. Alcaraz in 3.

I think the alcaraz era is here but I still not writing off Djokovic to win another slam or 2 elsewhere at his better slams. He will bounce back like he usually does.

Fedalfan trolls are embarrassment to their favorites,to sports fandom.
They can't make agreement whether to bash either semifinalist (winner/loser) while their favorites don't even play. One officially retired , the other in delaying phase

It would make an absolute mockery out of it.
But under the current circumstances he SHOULD make a mockery out of it, because it IS a mockery in the first place. Djokovic is the real #1 and only isn't it on paper because of the Covid bans. He still lacks one Slam and 4 Masters over the past 12 months because of it. And his Wimbledon points aren't in the rankings for different political reasons.

I believe Carlos has a good chance to beat Novak this Friday, however, it seemed to me that Tsitsipas played much worse against Carlos than Karen did vs Novak, especially in the first set and a half.

Tennis needs epic new rivalries. Let’s just hope for a great match but I see an alcaraz routine win.

Hopefully they play on other surfaces as well going forward. This might help keep Djokovic motivated for the last couple of years or so of his career.

I’m sure other players will emerge as well but of course the future looks very bright for Carlitos to dominate.

The Big 3 still lives thru Djokovic. Roger is retired, Rafa's body is broken. So Fedfans and Rafans should join Djokfans in cheering Novak towards latest SF victory.

Are you going to make excuses for Djokovic if Alcaraz beats him comfortably?

In your dreams! I am pretty sure that 99.9% of Roger, and especially Rafa fans, would love to see Novak lose to Alcaraz.

Not me and not the fellow Federer fan I will watch the match with tomorrow. We both want Djokovic to win because of the injustice with the Covid bans and because we both feel that tennis will get boring for a while when the Slam race is out of the picture. Nobody I know in real life cares one bit for any Next Gen stuff right now.
