Over the years, I've noticed people wearing fitter clothing. When I was in middle school, everybody used to wear excessively baggy clothing. Not even the "gangstas", but the skater kids too. Even regular people didn't give a rat's ass about fashion used to wear somewhat big clothing.
But as we moved past middle school, into high school, people started wearing fitter/smaller clothing. People started looking more defined in shape. You could see who's buff, who's skinny, who's fat; the baggy clothing no longer covered that. And I guess the muscular dudes go for the smallest shirts merely to show off their muscle definition and have bragging rights.
But I also noticed, even in high end fashion magazines people wear extremely slim fit clothes. Back then, oversized clothing was "in", but today it appears that the smaller your shirt, the more fashionable you are. Even today's "gangstas" are starting to wear clothing thats a bit more fitted, as opposed to several years ago when people wore XXXL tall tees and jeans that were 40 feet long. The skaters no longer wear baggy tees and cargo shorts, but skin tight t-shirts and female jeans. The preps have always looked the same to me
I personally made a transition from XL shirts to M over the years. Back then I was pretty chubby, so I used to wear baggy clothing to cover what's underneath the fabric...but now that I've been really exercising on a daily basis with tennis/weights, I could say I'm in good shape. XL shirts hang off me, and it just makes me feel uncomfortable. There's TOO MUCH on me, you know? So when I bought some Medium sized shirts, I felt more mobile and it was easier to move around without all the extra fabric jammed beneath you when you sit or turn in a seat. Not only that, smaller shirts really DO compliment the body. For me, its more about comfort than the look. I have some damn good looking XL polos, but they hang on me like rags and I feel uncomfortable.
Well then, I was wondering if this transition really occurred or its all in my insane imagination.
