CEO Raymond Moore resigns from Indian Wells

They should do away with interviews and press conferences in sport, completely (not really). They're just a an opportunity for people to **** up. When do we ever hear anything interesting?

Journalists ask the same stock, uninteresting questions over and over. And in response, they get the same rubbish answers. Then when Djokovic has an opinion on Ray Moore's comments, they kill him. Well, you don't really want to know his real views do you? Just the lawyer checked answers...

On Ray Moore, his tone was terrible, but one of his points not so much. Do Roger and Rafa carry the game? A lot of fans would agree they do. Does this mean women should be on their knees thanking them? ****k no. Most of the WTA players work incredibly hard to be the best tennis player they can be. They can't be concerned with what the ATP players or even what the other women players do.

Losing his job? Expected. He was found guilty in the trial by media (shock) that is so prevalent in society nowadays (sigh). Larry Ellison couldn't care less what he said, but it's damage control; image is everything. Larry sat him down with JD on the rocks and said "Ray, we're cutting you loose pal".

Ray's biggest crime? Not including Djokovic and Serena in the people who carry the sport! Lets hang the near 70 yr old! :D:rolleyes:

Well put.

When we go to Cinci, Mrs. Overheadsmash never wants to see the WTA. She likes the ATP. She says the women's game is boring. Of course, it doesn't help that the very first WTA match she saw had Monica Niclescu in it lol. Talk about painful....

Moore was dumb to say what he said though. Roger and Rafa have really helped to make tennis what it is lately, and the WTA has certainly benefited from their presence. Everyone knows this though, so for him to say it was just a waste and cost him his job.

Interestingly, I normally find the WTA to be a snooze-fest. So does my hero Ernie Gulbis, who once said "I was staying on the baseline all day, doing nothing - women's tennis" <---Yes he really did say that lol

However, I've seen some really excellent matches over the years - Halep v Safarova and Anastasia Pavlachenkova v Jamie Hampton being two that stood out for me - dogfights with some good shotmaking.

Quite an ending of his career and what he will be remembered for. Cooky man w no substance. Who picks on women (in this case) to make himself seem bigger. But in real life he is just a small little miserable man.
Meanwhile Serena is a living legend, fighting all kinds of obsticacles to reach her goals, she is a true inspiration for so many.

Well said. He will never be able to escape his now global shame--the best way to top off his public life.

Even if you agree with what he is saying, why say it out loud when it's such a controversial statement? He's only human, but people don't use common sense nowadays.

It is not a controversial statement.

If you read what he said he was rather kind to women.

Some people took his words out of context to create drama, contorversy and to satisfy their small big egos.

WTA needs to validate its existence, so there are people that are willing to make some noise.

And you know that , the moment people start making statements acknowledging that what he said was right, but asking for diplomacy, that diplomacy in this case is a cover for something else and the things are going downhill.

Rather kind.... not as if he was forcing women to kneel at the feet of men while confined to the kitchen. Presumably he lets them roam the house if in bare feet.

He basically said "they should thank their lucky stars".

After that he said that both Serena and Dopingapova are deserving their endorsements and position in the histroy of the sport and that there are a couple more that are capable and can become great/leaders.

Do you want me to quote the exact places where he said those things?

It's amusing watching you spin in knots in attempt to defend the bigoted statements; actually going as far as to not only make up your own "quotes" but to then challenge me for the exact words. Priceless.

I'll do the work for you. Despite your quotes, he never said "thank their lucky stars."

"No, I think the WTA -- you know, in my next life when I come back I want to be someone in the WTA, because they ride on the coattails of the men. They don't make any decisions and they are lucky. They are very, very lucky. If I was a lady player, I'd go down every night on my knees and ...." blah blah blah.

"Rather kind to women" you say. Telling that you spin it with make believe quotes....

Hahaha

I said "basically" and that is different from "literally".

And you didn't even dare to make me quote him, because you know that I am right.

And IF I am right about those words that he said about women, he cannot be what you describe, can he?

Poor you.

Here's another quote from your hero Raymond -- "I made comments about the WTA that were in extremely poor taste and erroneous. I am truly sorry for those remarks, and apologize to all the players and WTA as a whole."

Here's one from Larry Ellison -- "You're fired."

But you may be right. I'm going to help you out and suggest you demonstrate your "kindness to women" by finding a woman in a leadership position over you. Tell her how lucky she is to ride on the coattails of men. Explain how she should get down on her knees in front of [you can pick a man or two of your choosing] and show her thanks. She'll feel it's all ok it you immediately transition into how physically attractive you find her. Be sure to report back.

Your continuos drivel leads me to believe that you recognize all too well what difficult situation you are in in this debate.

That is to say: you recognize that there are facts that don't go well with your position.

As far as I am concerned that is enough. From this point you are simply exposing yourself and I don't want a written admission.

Luckily for me, the women close to me have always been real women: with power, charm and class and would not get offended by the truth, nor would they demand something that doesn't belong to them.

Some of the people here don't have a clue what propriety means and are screaming "ladies" without ever knowing what "lady" means.

They know women. That is different.

I hope that that takes care of your concerns.

lol. Let's recap some facts. In a thread stating that he resigned, he is indeed no longer working at the tourney. He himself admitted his comments were not only in "extremely poor taste" but they were also "*erroneous." He resigned in disgrace and the owner gladly closed the door behind him. Virtually all who have weighed in on the matter agreed. In fact, has anyone publicly supported the guy???

Difficult situation indeed. They were incredibly stupid public statements.

You are doing the same thing that you have been doing since the beginning of this which is to repeat the parts that are convinient for you and miss the parts that show the weaknesses of your position and the post above is no different.

Here's a weakness; you can argue he hasn't yet lost a sexual harassment or hostile work environment lawsuit.
