Lendl did the same thing to McEnroe before, so he can't complain.

You must be a young one. This is one of the most famous moments of tennis history.

I saw a youtube clip of Lendl hitting a drop-serve vs. McEnroe, but it was not an under-arm like Chang's. Were you referring to this?

Technically, Lendl did not do the same thing to McEnroe.. his serve was not "underhand". It was kind of a "patty-cake" quick serve.

    But funny nonethless.. :)

LOl Chang was cramping every where taking atleast 2 min long bathroom breaks every change over just to give him some energy. He was going up tothe service line to return a serve which Lendl hated and He did an underhand serve because
    1. To cramped to do an over hand
    2. If her did do an over hand it would have been returned too easily
    3. To make Lendl lose his rythm

everytime i look at how lendl use to play, i think he was the badass of his day :)
just look at the way he walks off the court after hitting the shot, no words, no long looks, no shame, nothing,, just cool as ice
the mcenroe face after picking up the ball was priceless :)

The best was when Lendl cracked McEnroe in the chest on purpose with a 90 MPH forehand from the service line, then holds up his racquet as if to say, "Sorry, that one just got away from me."

wct dallas finals in '81 or '82..

when chang did it to lendl , chang was just using strategy to do whatever he could to win the point at an important moment. with the lendl mcenroe one lendl did it probly just to p off mcenroe, lendl probly wouldnt have done that to other opponents..

actually may have been 82 or 83 by looking here -
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WCT_Finals

the 83 one went to a tiebreaker in the 5th with mcenroe on match point hooking a forehand winner that looked to have gone between the net and the netpost but the umpire ruled it a legal around the netpost shot giving him the match... definitely one of the most controvers. endings to a tennis match i have heard of...i have seen the replay and u still cant tell what happened!
