Changing a HEAD LM Radical's Rectangle grip to a Square/Round grip

flex

Semi-Pro
Semi-gear head but I'm totally lost in all the HEAD's codes.

I have a Head Liquid Metal Radical Oversize in grip size 4 1/2, I would like to make 2 modifications:

1 - Make it into a 4 3/8 grip

2 - Make it into a 'conventional' square/round shape --- removing the rectangular HEAD grip

From my research, am I correct (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) in assuming that I can accomplish both of these by purchasing a size 4 3/8 TK82S pallet?

Further note & hesitation:
The TK82s listed on Tennis Warehouse Europe https://www.tenniswarehouse-europe....ip_Pallets_TK82S/descpageHEAD-HYTSPAL-EN.html
says "This pallet is ONLY suitable for the Head Speed group rackets." --- So maybe it won't fit my HEAD Liquidmetal Radical?

Appreciate any help
Cheers!

It's on TWE - https://www.tenniswarehouse-europe....ip_Pallets_TK82S/descpageHEAD-HYTSPAL-EN.html
Can also be bought in the US on the fleabay

A concern I have on the TK82S is that on TWE (link above) it says "This pallet is ONLY suitable for the Head Speed group rackets."
-So how will it fit my HEAD Radical Liquidmetal (which is a really old line)

that's probably when they used to only have those pallets on the speed line. I fit them on my pc600s several years back with no issues, and i believe all the new head rackets use tk82s pallets

Thank you @snoflewis @graycrait

Again, I'm a racquet modification dummy, so does this mean...people can buy a HEAD racquet in any grip size, and just install their preferred grip size pallet on the racquet?
Any other manufacturer besides HEAD do this?

yep. there's also a choice of shape too with Head rackets. i believe PK, tecnifibre, and volkl also have pallets.

That is correct. I'm using TK82S pallets on all my classic Heads, and have fitted the same for an LM Rad too. You just need to trim off the access length when you install it to have it flush with the hairpin end. Don't forget to get the same size butt cap too.

I'm still kind of mind blown in a way. So you can scoop up those grip size 4 5/8 that sit on fleabay and for ~$35 (cost of tk82s pallet) you can have the racquet in your preferred grip size...?

Is this the insider secret everyone in the know has been doing all these years?

I think it's quite known once you start reading up about Head grips. But yes, all Head racquets to my limited knowledge and experience has the same hairpin grip end. So you can indeed get any grip size rackets and swap it out accordingly. I've swapped out many Heads from PT630, PC600, Rad Tours to newer Graphene models.
