Changing poor forehand technique

Ace of Aces

Semi-Pro
In the past six to eight months I have made huge strides in my game. I am finally starting to gain feel on my two hander after switching from a one hander half a year ago, and I am starting to use this as a weapon instead of a rally shot. My serve has greater consistency to go along with the power I've always possessed. My footwork and net play are also much crisper, but my forehand feels like it hasn't advanced at all.

When I started seriously trying to fix the flaws in my game eight months ago, I largely ignored my forehand. It was by far my best shot, and my other shots all needed work. The rest of my game has now passed it, and it has become a liability which keeps me from the next level. The grip is semi western. I've seen video of me hitting, and I can see a few problems with the shot. The backswing is a little too big and the legs and core don't seem to be in sync with the shoulders if that makes sense. I've tried to change it over the last month, but I can't get the legs and core to help the shoulders and arm. I've had a little success shortening the backswing, but without the lower body engaging, I have a hard time getting depth without a big swing.

If anyone has any good drills, tips, or videos on how to use the whole body to gain rackethead speed on a forehand please help. Also, any advice on how to keep from reverting back to my old shot would be appreciated. I understand that the shot may get worse while changing, but I need to develop a better forehand to bring my game to the next level.

Maybe you should post your video, so we know what we're dealing with.

The first step is admitting you have a problem. I admitted this myself lately. As I've worked on fine-tuning my technic, It's really the first step.

Like someone said, post a video. Then set goals and define what you want to achieve with your FH.
