changing shoes --> cant freaking serve for **** now!

just switched from my unremarkable reeboks to a comfy pair of diadora blushield torneo 2 AGs...and my serve has gone in the crapper literally overnight.

anyone else experience something like this simply by changing shoes?!?!

For a brief moment, I tried the Babolat SFX3. I found those shoes (with factory insoles) to be TOO COMFORTABLE. Off the get go, it really messed up what groundstroke footwork I did have. I gave up and re-sold the shoes because they didn't go well with my custom orthotics.

I love my Torneo 2s. They are a bit on the heavy side and also require getting used to. I've only noticed my overhead footwork being affected when I first started using them.

It’s possible just because of how different materials, heel-toe (ball of foot) drops, and other shoe metrics can impact your biomechanics. But it’s probably something else at play like your body is tired or you just had an off day.

hope youre right, but its been 2 weeks and it was like a light switch.

fwiw these shoes couldnt be more different.

the reeboks are light with a thin/firm sole, not much padding.

the diadoras are portly with a thick/pillowy sole.

Maybe look at some Lotto Raptors.

I think they're on sale at Dick's and the Lotto website right now.

I don't remember the weight but I don't think they're nearly as "portly" as the Blushield Torneo 2's.

The Torneo 2's say they weigh like 15.2oz's.

That's a pretty beefy shoes.

I heard that the Fila Speedserve adds speed to your serve, like 20 mph. You should try those shoes. I bet your serve will be amazing and your aces will go up, no doubt.

Go back to your old brand and style then.

But really it’s all in your head

Get your old shoes and change shoes every 15 minutes or so while videoing yourself. If there's some change in your motion evident, you should be able to see it.

I play on a slippery, sandy synthetic grass court. When the soles of my shoes are worn out, it affects my movement, groundstrokes and serves because I can't plant my feet firmly to launch myself to hit the ball, I can't brake properly, I can't change direction easily.

I play best when I wear omni court shoes. I can slide with it, yet it has excellent grip on the court.

I once played with hard court shoes on synthetic grass court and it felt terrible and too slippery, especially when there is too much sand on the surface.

I think the issue is down to something else...i've been losing the suppleness/looseness in my grip and wrist...not good for the serve!
