One thing that doesnt get mentioned much regarding finding your contact point, is that your swing angle and contact point needs to change for every ball.
Theres a lot of videos about optimum contact point, but its usually centered around hitting the ball at the optimum height. But we all know reality does not afford us this luxury and every ball comes at us at a different height. And this messes up our contact point.
What many dont think about enough is that the swing angle changes depending on the height and thus our distance from the ball must change too.
A lower ball requires a more vertical swingpath with a closer contact point.
A high ball requires a horizontal swing path with contact point further away from the body.
And then theres everything in between.
You must therefore vary your contact point distance on every ball.
I saw a video trying to help find the right contact point distance by shadow swinging using a tramline as the distance guide. But this is actually wrong and will mess you up, because your distance must change with every height of the ball.
