You can care without grasping too tightly. It's very difficult, because usually the mind is wired for extremes, but I think it can be done. You're right though in the sense that the tighter the grasp, the sweeter the enjoyment but the harsher the pain. I think you have to give up thrill in exchange for peace.
Hard to do when you care about people though. Being a parent is stressful lol. You care about those you love. But love will keep you young and happy.

You need to be in acceptance. Control what you can control. Accept what happens and deal with it. But that is almost impossible.

It's like sports fandom. If you care deeply then the losses hurt but the wins feel so great. But when you don't care, while losses don't bother you, you don't get that excitement level.

There is a perfect balance. Whoever figures that out will age gracefully and live a long life... unless they get smashed by a bus.

I am in my 30s, but I have this. @BallisticMissileFonseca

Look at what they've done to the Prince of Saiyans. Considering yourself lucky you didn't grow up with such heresy.

These words sound wise.
Everything in life is incredibly fragile. I've revolted against it by striving towards something ideal, yet real, that would be beyond the vicissitudes of life, only to find out that the path towards it required fully embracing the fragility of life.
It has been very humbling.

I have no idea what being a parent might be like. Tremendous sacrifice, I imagine. I've been an earnest, candid but difficult child for my parents.
It's dreadful but perhaps one day, I'll make the jump.

Personally, I feel like it's more about the life you have in yournyears than the years you have in your life.

The thing is not that I don’t believe in space travel.
The problem is that it’s a terrible idea. The quality of life will always be better here.
On the surface you have a great point. But it depends how you define QoL. If one highly values adventure, the adrenaline rush of being a million miles away from nearest other human might outweigh the inconvenience of having difficulty aiming your poop to go the right direction in zero G.

Adrenaline is temporary.
QoL is forever.
It has been demonstrated that if you poll what people rate as the highlight of their year, >90% answer with an experience from their vacation travels.

In other words, QoL is boosted by temporary highlights that become enduring memories, replacing boring monotonous moments from routine daily life.
