Wow!! Thats just crazy! Did anyone watch the match? I wonder what happened during the match for Schnyder to act so rude and unprofessional. Just plain nasty!!

In December 2003, Schnyder married Rainer Hofmann, a German private investigator and information technology specialist who has accompanied her on the WTA tour since 1999 and became her full-time tennis coach in early 2003. Hofmann carries a fraud conviction in Germany relating to his business dealings with German national communications firm Deutsche Telekom. Hofmann pled guilty in 2002 to embezzling the equivalent of 400,000$ from the firm, and was put on probation for 3 years.

Maybe they banned Orange juice?
Something definitely happened...what made PS that made? It seems the hubby had something to do with the chair umpire?

wow the bottle kick did it for me it. It looked like a little girl in NE juniors after she lost a round robin match.

I'm not sure what happened in the match, but apparently there were a lot of questionable calls. (Mariana Alves of Serena-Capriati fame was in the chair, and you'll notice that Schnyder refuses to shake her hand.)

I'd like to know how it is that Hoffman was allowed onto the court. I know he's a "coach" and all, but is it legit for him to come onto the court afterward?

Don't know if it's legitimate for the coach to be on the court like that, but it was just crazy to see something like that happen. I know it's rather blasé reaction from commentator and even those looking from the sides, because first here is wondered, "why" and "what reason for", while I think more action might have been taken at another venue.

With such a display, one might wonder if he were really p-o'ed what would he do to the other player. Would think it was very unnerving for Hantuchova. Had he something in his hand, might he have thrown it? Just raises some questions about on court security, though I think it was isolate thing.

I've always liked to watch Schnyder play. I like her fighting style, but she seems to have hooked up with problematic persons on more than one instance.

Disgraceful...

Some of you guys actually find this funny? There is no excuse for that type of nasty behavior and this one incident should be an answer for on court coaching.

If i'm not mistaken, Hantuchova hit a cross court winner that hit the line. Schynder thought it was out and got abit frustrated. Then in the next point, Hantuchova hit a down the line that was called out, but was immediately overruled by the umpire... Schynder was mad about it. Then Schynder lost her concentration and got broken.

What a man challenging Hatuchova to a fight with that free kick. There is just something unpleasant about Swiss tennis players and their surroundings isn't there...

The linesmen were 1/2 blind IMO. Both Daniela and Patty were always arguing with Alves , but she sometimes had to agree with the decision of a linesman. Still the worst linesmen are in Doha and Dubai IMO.

It's funny how ninety percent of you are quick with your judgments and just shuddering with righteous indignation after seeing a thirty second clip without any contextual background.

Patty Schnyder gave Conchita Martinez the "Swiss Diss" at the end of a match in 2004 in the semifinal in Charleston. They fell out during the match and Schnyder reacted quite badly at the end, she extended her hand as if to shake Conchita's hand, then pulled it away at the last moment, to a chorus of boos of course. It was the sort of stunt we used to do at school!

If you want to be freaked out, check Patty's website for her book

Patty's cool. Interesting player, interesting look. Her husband probably can use a biatch slapping, though.

What the hell is wrong with those two? They both deserved to be fined. It's just like when Djokovic dropped water all over the ground in the USO2007, they're all unmannered. =P

omg!!!! If I were Hantuchova I'd be scared ****less!!!

Schnyder's husband is the kind of person that ends up murdering their wives and having their story reported on some Lifetime show.
Seriously Patty should stay away from this guy who's clearly cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Looked to me like Schnyder gave Hantuchova a perfunctory handshake - not very polite, but given that she was probably very angry at the umpire and the linesmen she did the absolute minimum and then tried to keep her husband away, pulling him away from the situation - she must have known he might do something. What he did was just bizzare!

That's very similar to what I thought. No, not a full shake hand, but she did the sports equivalent of not pleased but hey it's finished. The husband did his own crazy rendition of protest against whatever, whoever. Not acceptable, no. But, not necessarily Patty's fault either. She didn't have his puppet strings in her hand. Just still, bottom line, she's aligned herself with some questionable personalities in the past, and from those...unfortunately, and not just from her walk, she has been seen by some as problematic. Arrogant, surly, and unsportmans(woman) like.

Don't know the whole situation, but if you had been in her position and your coach or partner had done such, what would you have done? Stop right there, question them, turn to the umpire and ask some questions. Or just kept walking, pulled them a bit(as she did) to kept them going, and THEN confronted them later?

It was a tough situation. Schnyder and Hantochova. Patty didn't ask or suggest he react that way from the video or anything from that amount of time that was seen.

This is not the first time Patty has pulled crap like this.
She did the same thing to Conchi Martinez. Actually for Conchi, she faked her; as in she put out her hand, Conchi stretched hers to shake Patty's and then Patty quickly withdrew hers. Very grown up of her

She and her husband are meant for each other. They are both nutjobs!

Nothing in any thing I would say that would excuse such behavior, but unfortunately when you might have someone like this, with a history of misdirection, they don't react as MOST might do: "this person is obviously reacting in a wrong way, an unacceptable way". No excusing anything at all, but as someone suggested, 30 second vid, might have been different reactions, sayings, different things afterwards, officials might have done something about it otherwise. Would have to see what happened on that.

Hey is English your first language?

(I don't mean this as an insult, it's just hard to understand what you type in your posts)

English is my 3rd language. Russian is first, then German. I know my response doesn't seem the clearest all the time. Absolutely no kidding, I bought myself a English Grammar textbook yesterday. I know its lacking, and am trying to improve :) People on this board don't alway recognize its not everyone 1st language. I really am trying to improve.

Your English is great for a 3rd language. There are people who have English as their first language who do not express themselves as you do; and you are still learning. Well done man.

My editor still doesn't think so :) but am writing for English readers now, and is English publishing house, so have to improve even more...but thanks, I take everything as a learning experience, and just appreciate to interact.

Hantuchova probably cheated and deserved it. Otherwise why would Patti and her husband react that way?
