Fragment of interview with Gabriela Sabatini of 1985:
Might have been posted already but this match is just a classic. Andre was in the zone and demolished McEnroe in stunning fashion. Good for some McEnroe outburts and antics, and some fun stuff like the umpire getting the score in a game wrong and not realizing it, and Mac finally rightfully concedes the game.

Guillermo Vilas - Interview 1973
Can anybody post a link to match from 1989 ATP Wourld Tour Masters 1000 Paris between Boris Becker and Wally Masur? This match should be somewhere, i watched itprobably last year. Thank you.
Guillermo Vilas champion in Munich 1975:

Bjorn Borg on Johnny Carson (about 19 minutes in):
BB explains his sabbatical (that became his retirement).
He states his intention to resume playing "many more years in tennis" in 1982 (about 25.30 minutes in).

Great videos! The video of the 1978 Masters finals includes the match points of the semifinals, Borg-Vilas and Connors-Gottfried!
Super Guillermo Vilas 1977 beats Raul Ramirez and reachs the French Open Final:
Always difficult for Vilas against Borg
This juanpradotennis guy - who uploaded the above video - is such an annoying thief. Steals other people's uploads and does not give them credit.
I saw the first set of that Suntory Cup final; Vilas had some errors; played I think one great point; then it´s unbelievable how Borg won it so quickly; if I´m right this was between Montecarlo and Madrid; in the best moment of Vilas in 1982, he had won also Rotterdam and Milan-beating Connors in both tournaments-; once Vilas said one of his best matches was against McEnroe in Tokyo; I think that was in that Suntory Cup; then definitely Vilas was in a great moment; he had beaten Borg in their previous meeting. It was a big chance to try to beat Borg. Vilas looked really dissapointed at the end, during the trophy ceremony.
you gotta watch this point! (the one on 7:00)
From Olympics 1992; Men's Doubles event, quarterfinals. At the end you can see the podium:
not old but
Pancho and Lew Hoad in 1964.
This makes me so incredibly happy. Totally forgot about that.
Mac, check out the video (probably 8 millimeter from a fan in the stands), in post 375 and tell me what you think.
Is that Laver and...Pancho?
I'm going deep into this thread. It's going to be a long night.
Becker vs McEnroe Davis Cup 1987
Some video of Ellsworth Vines and Cochet playing the 1932 US Championship.
Agassi vs Edberg Miami 1990 Final
Only 1:10 of highlights of that famous 1973 Davis Cup doubles match between Australia (Laver-Newcombe) and the US (Smith-van Dillen).
Not exactly and oldie, but definitely a goodie. Two of my all-time favorites squaring off at my home tournament. A young Gonzo taking out an in-form Agassi at the 2003 Legg Mason (now the Citi Open) in Washington, D.C. Andre used to own the Legg Mason, having won it five time. But the punishing forehand of Fernando Gonzalez was too much for him in this semi-final match. Tim Henman went on to defeat Gonzo in the final.
Looks like quite a few of the matches in this thread have been deleted from YouTube
Quite the boring match all in all, especially the 1st set. Thankfully, it picked up a little bit. Edberg played a very efficient match against a sub-par Wilander. Dominant on serve.
7:09 actually good find!
Shame the Citi Open doesn't get matches like this anymore. What's the best match you've seen there?
I moved to D.C. ten years ago so that's why I call it my home tournament (though I grew up in New Jersey). In those years, I'd say the 2009 DelPo v. Roddick final was a great 3-setter, definitely the best final post-Agassi.
Fairly obscure Connors doubles
Chang vs Edberg R.G. 1989 Final
Edbergs hardest loss.. and I feel his pain..
Borg v McEnroe Wimbledon final 1980. The best quality full length video I've seen of this match. You can see the ball most of the time!
Beginning at about 5:10, here is some great footage (from a great vantage point) of the epic Laver vs. Rosewall match at the WCT Finals in Dallas in 1972:
Great rally! and it's not like they were just pushing the ball back, i kinda miss that era of tennis, I think my interest in tennis as a spectacle started to die when Sampras and all the other big servers of the day started stepping up and it's gotten worse now; crash. bang. wallop. grunt.
1992 Fifth set of the gold medal match in Barcelona
Notice: back then, no chairs on the side of the court for the players to sit.
You can also appreciate the power of these two players from that perspective. I'd love to see the whole match from that camera.
