Can't believe Srichaphan lost to Moya for the second straight year in the Chennai final in another incredibly close match!!
Srichiphan was up 5-2 in the third set but ended up losing in a third set tiebreak, 7-5. How close can you get? What a heartbreaker! Especially since in last year's final, Srichaphan was up 5-3 in the third set tiebreak when Moya reeled off 4 straight points to win the match.
The scores for this year's and last year's final were almost identical:
2005: Moya def. Srichaphan 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5)
2004: Moya def. Srichaphan 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5)
I hope Srichaphan does well this year, especially with his new coach. I think he has the talent to challenge anyone on tour, even guys in the top 10, as evidenced by his results versus Moya. He also was one of the few to take Federer to three sets last year (Thailand Open semis).
