Choosing hybrid, problem.

Hello, I’m new to the forum, and I want to get some advice related to strings. I’m rocking a babolat pure drive 2015, first time I’ve put bab rpm dual on it strung at 56lbs, it felt really stiff, I liked the feel when I was hitting forehands, but my first serve always stayed on net and my backhand was falling a bit short. Now its strung with alu power rough at 54lbs, I’m having a powerful serve, but I don’t feel like I’m hitting really good forehands neither backhands, because I’ve always hit with an open racket face, it’s like 3/5 forehands are going like 3m over net, with lot of topspin but not going really deep into the court, the ball isn’t “heavy” at all.

I’m considering an hybrid, which consists in alu power rough on mains at 53lbs and rpm blast on the crosses at 54/55lbs, what do you think guys this is going to work out? Do you think it would be better going all rpm blast, choosing the hybrid I mentioned before, or maybe try another hybrid with alu?

Thanks.

I'd string lower than u are thinking or go to a poly/syn gut or gut/poly hybrid. If u are looking for more power and depth u probably won't like ALU/RPM or all RPM if you didn't like those other setup's.

Hi, thanks for your response, could you be more specific? I would like to have some poly/syn names, and so on. I'm pretty new to the world of strings, since my trainer was the one who always strung my racket, but he used some cheap strings, so now I want to have the best and most affordable options.

I'm a convert to Kevlar/zyex hybrids. They probably outperform poly unless you can afford to restring every 8 hours of play

I would try something completely different than what you posted... Both of those strings are incredibly stiff polys that are not going to give you any free power.

You mentioned in your post that "I don’t feel like I’m hitting really good forehands neither backhands, because I’ve always hit with an open racket face, it’s like 3/5 forehands are going like 3m over net, with lot of topspin but not going really deep into the court."

To me, that screams "I would benefit from a stringbed setup that would give me a lot more depth on my groundstrokes". And to do that, I would recommend a softer string like Babolat Origin, Xcel, or Tecnifibre X-One Biphase, strung around 54lbs. All of those strings would not only help your shots go much deeper in the court, but be significantly more comfortable on your arm when you're playing.
