CiCi Bellis, a flash of talent, or the true future star?

I guess we'll find out a little more against Serena
I don't exactly know what people are expecting from a 15 year old amateur playing a 19-time grand slam champion. Bar none, this will be a great experience for CiCi. Only #JC knows what the future holds for CiCi, praise be and hallelujah.

John Cauthen? Is she putting a bell shaped weight on her racquet handle?

Wish CiCi Bellis all of the success and good fortune in the world, I played junior tennis in the Bay Area where she grew up and it was an amazing sight watching her win 18's Championships at the age of twelve.

Did anyone ever try any of these handle weights to see if there was veracity to his claims? People seemed mighty dismissive at the time, would have been nice to see some actual play tests.

I don't have the opportunity that you had, but the same sincere wish from myself go to CiCi...

CiCi, after 4 surgeries and being away from match play for more than 16 months, is finally returning to the tour play in Cincinnati next month. Disappointed that she's not playing San Jose this year.

She prevailed over Pliskova early in 2018 but I don't believe that she has played on the WTA tour since Miami last March. It appears that she will receive a special ranking entry directly into the main draw at Cincy.

I didn’t think she was going to do much anyway but after all those surgeries, that thought has increased. I wish her well. That injury was horrific.

With a better serve, she potentially could have been a top 20 or even a top 10 player. She showed a lot of promise at a young age. Won her WTA debut match at the USO at 15, beating seeded player, Cibulkova (AO finalist that year). Since then at 17/18, she has taken down several top 10 players. The most recent was Pliskova, early last year, before her injuries took her out of competition for well over a year.

One that really impresses me about CC is her tennis intelligence. I have seen her call in her coach several times in matches. Usually, when a player calls in their coach, they are looking for answers or insight as to how to turn the match around. Not the case with Bellis . She uses her coach as a sounding board. She gives an insightful accounting of the match up to that point and ends up telling the coach what she feels needs to be done. He generally ends up agreeing with her and mostly just offers her encouragement.
