Looks like Marin do not yet choose what setup (string&tension) fits him best...as a junior, he played Lux BBOriginal in the mains and gut (sometimes VS Touch, sometimes Wilson Gut) @25/24kgs.
At the start of 2008, he switched from Original to BBALU Power 125.
Then, in last year's USO, started with his usual setup but halfway he reversed the string position and constantly raised the tension from 25/25 to 25.5, 26, and finally 26.5 kgs.
At BNP Parisbas Open, new change...this time full BBALU and tensions of 27, 27.5 and 28 respectively.
New mains change at the french open...this time, regular Pro Hurricane 1.25 and tensions from 24 to 26 <always by half-kilo steps>. From what i know and see, he is still using the PH/VS setup.

    Hope this helps

What strings and tensions do you use?
I’m using gut in the mains, 1.25mm gauge, and I’m using Luxilon ALU Power at 1.30mm gauge on the crosses. As for tensions, it depends on the temperature. [In England] on the grass I play with 25 kilos, but at the French Open I played with 26. It was a little bit warmer in Paris and the ball was flying so I played with the strings a little bit tighter.

Here is a recent photo of Marin Cilic's racket:

    His string setup was:

    Mains - Babolat VS Touch 16 (1.30) @ 25.0 KGS (No prestretch)
    Crosses - Luxilon Big Banger Alu Power 17 (1.25) @ 25.0 KGS

Hope this can be of help,
