It's hilarious because 15 minutes ago you were warning Fed about how Rafa was on fire, meaning you wanted him to win and then beat Fed.

Now that he lost you are happy he doesn't have to play anymore matches.

See how it's hilarious?

It's hard not to try and win when you have a chance. But objectively it was always going to be better if Nadal didn't have another couple of marathons. Nadal probably has the same approach, he'll do anything to win even though he knows he's playing too much tennis. That's what happened in 2009 clay season, he couldn't resist trying to win everything even though he was suffering.

not nearly as embarassing as being in your prime and losing to a 17 year old baby nadal on nadals worst surface. Not as bad as getting destroyed in straight sets at the french open by old man busted hip kuerten in your prime

Fed was in his prime 2005-2007. When has Nadal's W-L record been close to Fed's in those years? Fed lost to Nadal (the clay "Goat", not Baggy!!! :) In his prime!

It's played on the same surface, basically. And Baggy is not even a top 10 player. How can you be confident on hard courts after not making the finals twice in a row?

That's like saying Nadal losing to Lopez at Queen's Club gave him little chance of winning Wimbledon.

Marcos Baghdatis I love you! What a win tonight. I didn't post during the match as I like to just focus on watching it at the time. I was afraid he'd lost it once Nadal took the second set. This could be a big win in the context of Marcos' career (i hope). For himself, it's great that he has shown he can beat anyone now. I hope he stays fit, continues to serve well, and most importantly, keeps believing in himself. Keep going Marcos, let's see you going deep at Flushing Meadows

right on!!!

I love Rafa, but sometimes the top four can be a bore ... Baghdatis really earned it and deserved it!

I agree this is a lucky break for Nadal to not have to play a long semi and final. It would have been another scheduling mistake if he made the semis/final. And he's certainly hit enough balls, fully ready for USO.

He's going to be rested and knows what to work on, finally he's also fit too.
No fan likes to see their guy lose but it could be for the best.

I know it's not easy for you fans, but dont give yourself too much hope for USO. He cant win it, look right after green clay what happens to this guy.

He will never win it, and that's ok, he is one of the greatest :^D

Very few people appreciate how GOOD Baghdatis really is.Nadal's "crappy play" was because Baghdatis was pressing him on the backhand with flat low groundies, and that's a game Nadal just can't play.Score shoulda been 6-4 6-3 if Baggy hadn't missed al those chances in the second,he really exposed him tonight..

That's like saying Nadal losing to Lopez at Queen's Club gave him little chance of winning Wimbledon.

Yes, he did struggle at Wimbledon during the first week. Only after winning a couple of weird matches he started to play better. At the USO he may not be that lucky.

That's like saying Nadal losing to Lopez at Queen's Club gave him little chance of winning Wimbledon.

Not exactly. Nadal had already won Wimby and made 3 finals, and is it a coincidence he didn't win Wimby until he won Queens? Yet he's never made the final of Cincy, the event whose surface is closest to that of the USO, and has still yet to make the final of the USO last I checked.

You have a lot to learn about tennis if you think Nadal is even in Federer's class.

Apples and Oranges, kid.

Man if i didnt know you were a Nadal fan....

Blinks, keep being objective, and keep being awesome. (assuming you're not being sarcastic lol)

Except, that 17 year old baby turned out to be an 8 (plus?)-time grand slam champion. And that old man busted hip guy at the french open was a 3-time champ at that tourney.

Baghdatis is a....hmmm.

Anyway you cut it, this loss is not a good thing at all for the #1 player in the world, in his prime, going after his missing slam, played on the same surface.

yes green clay where there are more aces then any other grandslam. ******* logic as usual.

You dont need to give yourself too much hope, he will continue to be no 1 and continue to win slams

The difference is that Queens plays nothing like Wimbledon, while Cincinnati plays at a very similar speed to the USO (it's only slightly faster at best).

Just thinking, this Nadal loss pretty much clears the road for Fed to the title. First Baggy, which I believe Fed can handle, and then probably Roddick, which will be a tough task this time around for Rog. Before the Fed/Davy match I'd have picked Roddick as favorite, but after watching Fed against Davy I'll change my pick.

Nadal played as well as he could. He's in his prime after all. He just won 2 slams!

Del Potro has never won a masters series title, yet he won the US Open last year by beating Nadal and Federer.

the old busted man was past his prime. If kurten was anywhere near his best, he would have dominated the fo in 04. Yeah that 17 year old baby turned out to be great but he was still a 17 year old baby at the time, not a mjor champion

This just goes to show how Nadal's game is not suited for hardcourts, particularly the fast hardcourts of the summer and autumn. He would have to change his game so dramatically to dominate at the USO that he would literally have to become a different player. The fact that Federer is so well-rounded that he has massive game on every surface is a major reason why he is the GOAT.

Del Potro has never won a masters series title, yet he won the US Open last year by beating Nadal and Federer.

Not trying to be harsh here, but that point is really irrelevant. Del Potro was a young guy who had just started to break through, while Nadal has been a top guy at the Open for the past 5 years and still yet to make a final. He continues to have the same problems on fast HC against big hitters.

how about losing to canas twice, is canas a great player too? Or was roger not in his "prime" in 07?

You may be right! We gotta admit...:-?

But there's always H-O-P-E!:)
