Classic Racket Pics

Thanks! I don't have close friends who play this game. I started playing as kid on a sheds wall at my grandparents house. That went for years. Hitting on court only with one of my high school classmates a couple of times on summers.
3-4 years back I played with a coach (not learning, just for hitting balls) at summertime for cheap (not paying for the court, just the wage?), but that place got new owner, and the price at the new place, where the coach went doubled.
It's easier and more predictable to buying rackets, than searching for people.

Original 65cm long and 270 grams unstrung. The "cap grip" is like a pallet, but molded together, so I had to cut it up to slide it down by 3cm. I added paper in the handle and tape on the outside of the head (later removed). Then changed the design with red tape at the silver parts. With lead tape at 3-9 now weights 335 grams.

One part of the missing length (~34mm) compared to 27" Fischers comes from the shorter throat (-14mm). The other part from the handle.

Yes, it looks like the brand is Select. The weight of the racket is 360 grams with just 2 overgrips on the handle. It's even balanced and not a soft racket. You can check your rackets flex on a table, it's similar to the Babolat RDC machines RA measurement:

The writing on the racket says "midsize", but the headsize is little bigger than PT630's.

The throat is round, similar to Pro Kennex Destiny rackets, but the PK's throat width is variable, the Selects is constant.

I have vibration dampener with the same logo like yours on the buttcap of Select racquet. Looks very old and cheap.

300 grams with synthetic replacement grip. Balance 36 cm from buttcap. Low flex. Racket has a little bit unusual swinging noise.

From Ten.ismenace: 95sq", 26.75", 290gr/10 1/4oz, 2pts/1/4" HH, S.W. 289, 20mm Beam, RA=63, 16x19

I wanted to trash this racket because it had some vibration without a dampener. I did not find any visible cracks, maybe it was the bumper wich was cracked. Now it has Frankeinstein grommets + Prince's "CUSHION GRIP SYSTEM" A SHOCK ABSORBING, GRIP SIZE SPECIFIC, RUBBER PALLET PROVIDING ADDITIONAL PLAYER COMFORT, WITH REDUCED FATIGUE & INCREASED PROTECTION FROM ELBOW INJURIES. New length is 67,5 cm. Strung with Big Banger Original 15L.

Also got strung this Donnay, that was pictured before. Got Frankeinstein grommets, was extended to 68 cm. This and the Kinetic below were strung with Wilson Sensation Strike squash string.

Now can we call this a Yonex thats NOT a Yonex? :)

Wawrinka may like this :)

(as the head shape resemble his, which unlike the current batch of Yonex VCores that got narrower lower hoops to make it "rounder" or less rectangular like the other brands)

Wondering whats the head size (maybe a 93 or 95? but could also be a 90) and beam width (20mm?) Weight is probably 340g unstrung as shown above.

Me like the silver paint job!!

The racket is 69 cm long. The beam is constant 18 mm wide on the side, and tapers on the front: 13mm (top), 14 mm (3-9 hours), 15 mm (4hours). The head size is not more than 85. The weight with just 2,5 overgrips on the handle is close to 360 grams. I saw 2 more variation of this racket in previous years. (Not my pics!) Interesting that the Taróczy Autograph from the brand "The Racket" pictured below, had similar powerpads as mine.

I watched that match in 1985 on TV of course. Pity that Cash lost.

I always wonder what racquet Balazs used. So this "The racquet" is the copy of Garcia? From what country was this brand from?

What model Donnay is?

What model Donnay is?

Look at this post.

I always wonder what racquet Balazs used. So thia "The racquet" is the copy of Garcia? From what country was this brand from?

In a written interview he said he was late on the switch from wood. First he tried the Dunlop max 200g. It was in 1983. He won a "satellite " tournament with it, but lost in the first round at the next tournament in Palermo. He gave up on this racket and got back to wood. In january 1984 at the mens's doubles world championship he played with the same racket as Heinz Günthardt (Kneissl ?). He did not like it, so switched again back to wood till may. In München at a team championship Niki Pilic lent him his racket, the Garcia. Taróczy really liked it, and got two from Pilic.. Later Pilic went to Puma, so the name changed to Taróczy Autograph.

Another interesting fact about him is, that he is a left hander, but somehow started playing tennis as a kid with right, and he stayed at that hand.

Interesting that nobody mentions the loose buttcap on these. I tried to fix it with staples without success, then removed it after huge effort. It was mentioned that there is no vibration. I did feel vibrations when bounced balls at home. The inbuilt vibration dampener touches the hand when you grab the racket near end buttcap. The racket with the original buttcap was 67,8 cm long, measured from top to buttcap end.

Out of all of your smaller midsize fisher frames .. which one is the softest and most flexible ? For years I’ve been trying to find Fischer’s most flexible racket out of the vacuum mid molds .. I love that old school snow shoe shape

I always wonder if this is a true 93 (NOT 89.5 like the Prestige mids), but don't have a chance to check out one.

Maybe @vsbabolat or other folks can weight in on more background info on this interesting frame too. Thanks
I have a Comp Pro TF 600. It’s a hair bigger but I don’t know if it is a true 93
