LOL

Okay, there’s only one reasonable solution to this prickly surface debate.

Give us all what we need and have them dart around on a derelict court.

In fact, toss a few concrete obstacles in there. And some tigers. Maybe a crocodile.

Better yet, some of @paranoidandroid ’s fornicating turtles to hump player’s legs as they’re scampering about.

Make it a mix of American ninja and the zoo.

Give us entertainment we want dammit!

Serving then playing long rallies is the fault of equipment not any of the surfaces.

Clay is an amazing surface to play on. Easy on the joints, better for rec players to develop a well rounded game on. It should be represented in slams since so much of the world plays the game on that surface.

I'm not sure what you want from your tennis as a long time tennis fan. A bunch of 7-6 serve bot affairs? That's not tennis to me. That's trick shot artistry. That's like giving a long drive champion the Green Jacket. Tennis has to be more than just about how well you serve. At least clay rewards groundstroke consistency and point construction.

Thank god the conversation has evolved from when people talked about clay being bad for joints.

That claptrap was awful to bear.

Totally agree. On merit of it being the surface many, if not most, aspiring players play/train on, clay is where it needs to be.

Anyone that says that likely hasn't played a lot on the surface. One could argue that points are longer so you run more on clay, but in my world I get 90 min to play tennis in a booking. 90 min on clay feels far better than 90 min on hard courts.

Too true. In summers I get to play on clay, an hour on clay feels like nothing. I can go 3-4 hours on the dirt and be right as rain for the next day. What I love most about clay is being able to experiment and fine tune my strokes, a little angle change, a little trajectory change, going for it slightly earlier, or later.

Here’s a picture from where I am now - one teeny-tiny little hard court. LOL.

And at least for this conversation, no grass anywhere to be seen.

Don't mind Hydro/Rusty.

Noone in his right mind is saying what he claims someone is saying.

It is his usual trolling.

And, yes, clay is easier on the body than HC all other things being equal.

OP, I know this thread is just tongue and cheek, and of course you are a Fed fan for the week, so you keep doing your thing. ;)

But in all seriousness, calling clay obsolete is just as moronic as those saying grass is obsolete. Agendas galore. ALL surfaces should be valued, and appreciated. They all make tennis what it is today.

Oh. Back on the Rusty theory?

Being taken at face value and not being called a troll was nice while it lasted for the week. I thought we had made some progress.

It is very simple.

I didn't ask you to do anything one way or another, and you are not the one who is in position to talk about progress.

Understood?

BTW, I never stopped calling you a troll, which you are.

What's Rusty?

Needed to look for the thread as one post doesn’t quite cover it.

A certain contingent in here is of the opinion I’m a resurrected old Nadal fan.

Here you go, it’s from when I was sort of new to this part of the forum - page 2 onwards.

https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...hed-the-federer-vs-delbonis-match-and.612444/

If I’m not mistaken, when @Tennis_Hands puts up posts like this:

Lol

That didn’t take long.

I am waiting for Northern now.

And this,

Self_Talk_Mirror_s.jpg

Time for yet another account.

...what he may be intimating is that both of us are the same user.

It’s an awesome conspiracy theory really. Some guy gets in here to put up thousands of posts, gets himself banned, then spawns several accounts for many more thousands of posts so that he/she/it...can agree with himself?

I don’t know what Tennis Hands or anyone elses’s larger point is. Maybe every time someone has a different perspective this is how they need to rationalize it?

Maybe everyone in here is Rusty?

Now you know.

It depends on your lvl, if your a 3.5 stomping around its much better for your back and joints. If your playing hard and sliding, it actually put more stress on your joints. Feds doctor was talking about it.

Have you seen the movie Predestination?
Oh you obviously have. Who am I asking? We are the same people.

Lolololol Lololol that's the most f'ed up thing I have ever heard on ttw. So you, me, Northern are all Rusty. This is a great script for a movie. Just love this story. It fits though. We agree on things. We Fed fans. Or we disguise as Fed fans but in reality all we we ever dream of is having sexual relationship with Nadal.
We have the same ttw rival-Tennis_Hands.
That's just a great great story. Thankyou @Tennis_Hands for the laugh. It's the best I have had in quite sometime.

Next time use the PM.

I know that it is not as entertaining as putting it here, but you already know that that BS doesn't fly with me at least.

Oh, and, largely, all those "other users" share the same uninformed, trollish perspective with other common posting style cues to boot.

Anyway, enough with you.

Since we cleared the misunderstanding about your little "inaccuracy" with ascribing words to people without even giving context or anything at all, we safely can go to whatever else you have in your flaming bag.

It will not take long, I am sure.

Hey, Predestination is one of my favourite Time Travel movies. Wait. It is my favourite Time Travel movie!

Who are you/we/I/us kidding? M. Night Shamalyan should hire this talented act as scriptwriters for his upcoming Unbreakable/Split sequel. We’ve got at least three distinct personalities between us and God knows room for another ten that I can count.

Maybe @Red Rick is the closet meth amongst us? Maybe @paranoidandroid the animal lover? Maybe @Lew is the Italian connection? @TheGhostOfAgassi the Norwegian touch?

The possibilities to explore are endless.

If it’s any consolation I don’t understand.

Try taking a pause and drafting it into something comprehensible otherwise you just come across grumpy.

I still have absolutely no idea what you’re going on about.

Lol I read that thread were this rusty sh*t started. It was such a lovely thread about lovely Mirka and her lovely beauty but unfortunately it took an ugly turn. I think Hitman and you are one of the most sensible and coolest posters here and that day both of you got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. I hope your internet relationship with Hitman healed over time because he is a great guy.
And yes we are all Rusty indeed. Also Predestination GOAT.

Or making an excuse for Fed not wanting to get shellacked on his weakest surface.

I am unaware of any credible scientific evidence that backs up Fed's doctor. Fact is, the more you play and the harder you play, the more injuries you get. Doesn't matter the surface. So Fed is wise to rest his body for the grass season at his age.

It happens when you slide, the joints support the body, can feel your quads working. You stiffen up, Its very brief but very taxing on the knee's.

I don’t know with @Hitman, the good part is he keeps things on topic, it never gets personal.

The bad part is on the extremely rare occasion it does, like it may have gotten that day, it needs to be talked about to explore what just may have happened.

I’d told him then to take full ownership of his opinion and to his credit I think our relationship at this stage reflects this.

I’m just not sure that ownership allows for the best relationship, certainly not one I think both of us respectively are capable of.

It’s one of those questions that continues to linger. For as long as it continues to be up in the air I’m not Rusty, or at least some Nadal fan with a hidden agenda, I’m not sure how openly we can really communicate.

But back to the good part. @Hitman , regardless of what you may or may not make of me, all credit for being a voice of reason and stability, and entertainment, in here.

It’s as @ak24alive says, you’re one of the good ones. The very very good ones.

If it was as weird as a black and white Fellini movie, or twin peaks Lynch. But it's not.
It's just different tracks. Something cannot be understood.

I would use the old psychological trick: Simply visualise the haunting thing getting sailed away on a ship. Say goodbye to it when it dissapears in the horizon.
Or 2 bottles of Bordeaux might do the trick OR some meth from @Red Rick.

It’s my fault. I’d looked for reasons to unignore people thinking I’m the one with the problem.

But you’re completely right - there are going to be moments when you just can’t understand and it’s important to accept it.

I do it all the time outside my cultural norm, like in China.

I should be better at it.

Thanks for the little trick. Bordeaux and/or meth. And a vanishing point on the horizon.

Sounds good.

People have mistaken their hatred for clay with their hatred of Nadal’s dominance on clay. On the other hand, people make the same connection when looking at grass because they naturally only assume positive things because of Federer’s greatness on it. It’s a pretty normal subconscious connection that the human brain performs in connecting a consistent variable with a constant setting.

Federer and a handful of other players’ matches may be interesting on grass but overall the play is awful. People just can’t stand the constant end result of the French Open.

If Nadal were to have 11 Wimbledon’s and just 1 French Open and Federer were to have 8 French Opens and 1 Wimbledon, I feel like the conversations and attitudes towards grass would match the hatred for clay all the way down to the ridiculous and hysterical posts trying to explain why grass should be eradicated.

Has more todo with style of play than results. Clay is great, until you watch a few points and they all look the same.

Im finding soccer fans mostly liking clay, they have a great ability to endure the mundane.
