Ok so Clemson has commitments from Chambers Easterling and Beau Pelletier for 2017. Both have higher UTRs than Daffra Sanon and Luke Johnson. So those are good signings. The issue? They don't come next year. Next year is going to be a disaster unless some recruits come out of nowhere soon.

There's a bunch of good JUCO players available. While that probably doesn't make you feel any better given their latest JUCO players results, maybe they'll pick up one of those or a good transfer.

Yeah that's why I am not too excited. The current coaches have done better with recruited players like Harrington, The Madens, Gerardo Meza, Alex Favrot etc. The transfers and JUCO's have been mediocre at best. Pinazo was a let down last year. Sanon and Johnson were ok but both had to play over their heads in the lineup.

    next year lineup:
    1. Favrot
    2. new player
    3. Sanon
    4. new player
    5. Dudley
    6. Harris

even with optimal new players it's not looking great. Next year's senior class of Harris,Lett,Dudley will turn out to be one of the least successful classes of Clemson tennis players ever if next year is another bad year.

Miss St. has had the best luck with the JUCO transfers from my observation. They've had 3 Tyler players over the last few years that have performed pretty well. So it can be done. Curious to see where the ASA players end up. Seminole sent 4 of their 5 starters to DI's for this next year, 1 player their #2 still undecided or needs 1 more semester or something to graduate.

    John Boetsch named head coach

I am surprised by this. So Boetsch goes from assistant to head coach while McCuen goes to director of operations. I assume this means John will get a chance to hire a new assistant. Boetsch is the hungrier of the two and younger and has the drive to make Clemson good. I hope he selects an assistant with good recruiting ties because that is really what is lacking right now. Boetsch has the hunger, he spends hours on end everyday on court. The recruiting is what we need now with an assistant with good ties.

Whoa, interesting. I have known McCuen a long time, interesting to see this and their last few years have been abysmal. Don't know much about Boetsch, these types of moves can go either way. Its hard to do your job when your old boss is hanging over you or it just keeps the same ole same ole, but if he has the freedom to make the necessary changes it could be good. Will be interesting to see but I wonder what the politics are in the background

I trained with John when we were both playing junior tennis. One thing is for certain from then to now; the dude has incredible energy and passion. I hope he is very successful, except when he plays the Gamecocks.

not sure about this one. He and Boetsch have similar recruiting pipelines. I think I would prefer an assistant with good international recruiting ties.

I don't think college aspirations by domestic players has been brought up enough in these conversations. If you go look at schools like Stanford, USC, UCLA, Virginia, North Carolina, etc., you will notice that most of their students are American. The sad truth is American tennis players in general do not want to play at schools like Oklahoma, Clemson, Nebraska, and more that don't carry the same reputation as the "better" schools listed earlier. The only real exception to this is Ohio State seeing as they somehow managed to recruit 2 of the top 5 kids in the class of 2017.

somehow? You are baffled by how kids are attracted by Ohio State?

Honestly this post has nothing to do with anything and is incorrect anyway.

This will probably end up just as insignifigant as the Jess Jones transfer. Focus needs to be taken off mediocre transfers. That has not helped the team in the past couple of years.

I have no idea what they are talking about either, what silly comments...Clearly off base and naive to the process

Well, and no offense to Clemson's team, there is a decent chance one if not both of those players find the line-up next year. When kids get in the line-up, there is no telling what can happen. That's the point of college tennis: When kids get chances to play good players match after match, they improve into better, more experienced players who boast confidence in their games. What I'm trying to say is, who's to say Jess and Sam don't wind up becoming staples of a new Clemson team.

Tough tough loss for Yannick Maden in R2 of the Perugia challenger. He lost to Blaz Rola 2-6 7-5 7-6(4). So close to beating the former NCAA champion. Maden has been playing some great tennis as of late. Hopefully he can keep it up

Clemson adds Igor Smelyanski from Tennessee. Decent player, but I wonder why there has been such a focus on transfers the last few years.

I think the players pursue it more then the coaches usually because they are unhappy with their play time or the situation. but in some cases they have a relationship with the coach from past recruiting. I guess the question is why they didn't go there to begin with? I am always skeptical of transfers....

Smelyanski looking like the strongest player so far in the fall. He had two decent wins in the Tulsa qualies. Meanwhile Favrot is not looking great. Had a bad bad loss to Corbett of VT.

Yannick Maden routined Vincent Millot 6-3 6-2 and Kimmer Coppejans 6-2 6-3 (2 guys who have been in the ATP top 140 before) to qualify for his first ATP event, in Antwerp.

He will face Simon tomorrow. Not a good matchup in theory for Maden but let's see how he does.
