Vukadin played in Umag qualies and lost round in 1 to #201 ATP.

Kuzuhara beat Stiles Brockett 6-3 7-6 and JC Roddick (A&M) 6-3 6-4 before losing to Aidan Kim 7-6 6-3 in the Dallas ITF tournament.

Didn’t watch Kuzuhara v Kim but power hitters can hit through Bruno. Iirc he lost to Suresh a year ago at the same tournament. This may sound controversial but would be curious to see how Vukadin or Markov do against him in internal matches. Both have bigger games although consistency may be an issue.

Yeah I don’t think it’s set in stone that Bruno will play #1. I watched a little bit of some of his matches on YouTube and he is a consistency first type of player, which actually is against the trend of most the players on the team who are attacking aggressive players first. Except for Gales who is more balanced and crafty. But Markov, Vukadin, Farzam, Mesarovic, Bladelius, Cherubino are all aggressive players. (Don’t know Pires’ game yet).

So simply having Kuzuhara at practice will be beneficial to the team as well, giving all
The other guys a different look game style wise.

Congrats. And LOL, I have my foot in my mouth after my post above. DK had a poor serving day but credit to Kuzuhara for beating him to the finish.

Perhaps DK knew he was receiving a LL spot in the main draw? Its really perplexing to see him lose to Kuzuhara but then beat world #155 Billy Harris (who just took a set off Khachanov in Wimbledon) in straight sets.

DK's been up and down going back to the past college season. But if I am not mistaken, Harris is a bit of a DK's bunny having lost to him in similar fashion at the Lexington Challenger last year. Could be a matchup problem.

Good win over DK for Bruno yes. That's a big clash of styles.

Before that he barely beat Florida's Claverie in the 1st quali round in a 3rd set breaker.

Llamas Ruiz another big hitter got the better of him in the MD. But as you said, he'll mix things up and add some variety to the lineup.

Sticking my neck out a bit but feel Clemson will be right there in or around the top 15. And that will start w/ you guys hosting Nat Indoors.

I think so too. The couches have said the ultimate goal this coming year is to make the final site in Athens. That’s gonna be a challenge with how many teams out there have assembled strong lineups. But it’s good that it’s a legit goal and attainable rather than just a pie in the sky idea

Another week of action for Bruno. He beat JC Roddick again, UC Irvine #1 Noah Zamora and the best win, over Jack Anthrop. All 3 wins in straight sets.

Ultimately lost to Gogineni and retired in the 2nd set
 
Mesarovic got a nice win over Okonkwo of Ohio State 7-6 (1) 7-6(6) in East Lansing ITF. Has another Buckeye, Filin, next up.

Edit: It was actually the older Okonkwo who played for Iowa and Illinois years ago who Marko beat. Filin won 6-3 6-2.

The team's Instagram posted some photos for the return to practice. All of the guys were there. Great to see Romain back on court without injury. First look at Bruno and Tiago in Clemson gear as well.


Also excited for my 2nd favorite Clemson team (men's soccer) getting their season started tonight at Riggs Field vs top 5 Furman. Love the setting at Riggs right near downtown and right next to the tennis facility.
 
Something I was thinking about during soccer's 5-1 domination of Furman last night... this could be the first season since the 80s where men's tennis finishes as the highest-ranked program on Clemson's campus in a sports calendar season.

Men's soccer made a strong case that they will be in that mix as Noonan almost always has them top 15 (national titles in '21 and '23) but they did finish outside the top 25 last year.

So many questions about football, it's hard to see them finishing higher than like #20.

Basketball is solid but not top 25 level. Baseball could have a bounce-back year but need to prove it. Softball has fallen back a bit from previous top 25 standards. Women's lacrosse is top 20 but lacrosse also has way fewer D1 schools.

Men's tennis has a real chance to be the highest-ranked Clemson sport in the 2026-2027 season. Should be a top 16 team that could push higher into the top 10. And just think that just a few years ago, men's tennis was one of the bottom three sports at Clemson.
