Closest to Pure Drive of old?

What current Pure Drive like racket is closest to how the Pure Drive used to be (say 2012 version and earlier) before they introduced all the dampening Techs (muted feel), widened string patterns and so on?

The current pure drive is most alike to the pure drive of yore. Not sure what you're expecting...

Maybe try an instinct?

Just seems like most of them has this dampening Techs and/or string widening Techs wich rubs all of the raw feel and makes them uncontrollable. The earlier Extremes/Pure drive like rackets weren't like that.

This makes no sense. How does vibration and impact dampening affect controllability. Where the ball is going is determined before the racket meets the ball except maybe on drop volleys. Are you actually trying to say you can adjust your stroke during the 1/1000th of a second the ball is touching the strings to make it go where you want to?

I get that some people equate harsh vibratory experience with feel. But that's a subjective sensation and has little to do with the outcome of the shot. If you like it, great. But don't put more weight on that sensation than it deserves.

Personally I play with flexible racquets with vibration dampeners and I prefer the more muted feel to filter out the high amplitude vibrations so I can more cleanly feel the ball impact on the racket. I can't stand the tinny harsh sensation of hollow stiff frames.

Yeah i was refering to the opening of the the string pattern when it comes to reduced controll :)

I agree, I had a 12year old racquet until last year (I bought the PD 18) and have lost a lot of control and feel (but more power).
I am trying other models such as Yonex VCore 98 and 100 and also Head Speed 360 MP. VCore seems to be a good option but 2nd test next week).
Has somebody else compared these racquets ?

Nobody seems to have tried it yet, but the latest head instinct has almost exactly the same specs as the pure drives, but with a tighter pattern like the old versions.

I doubt there will ever be a racket that offers supreme power and supreme control. They are just too much at odds with each other. Everything in rackets is a compromise between power, flex, control and feel. You will always get more control and feel from a midsize 18x20 frame and more power from an oversize open pattern stiff frame. Tweeners try to compromise but still tend to be a bit overpowered for my taste.

Give the Wilson Ultra 100CV a try. It has similar specs to the pure drive line but has a less open 16x19 pattern that's similar to the older PD/APD molds. I've had quite a few members at my club who used the pre-2015 pure drives and APDs switch with few complaints. Apart from that, the Head Graphene Extreme MP has been re-released, and it's the old style head shape and string spacing. I'm guessing the graphite/paint quality is a bit worse, though.
