Club Chopin Announcement: Poly Shirts Suck

Playing in a dry place like LA in the summer, reg cotton shirts are OK. But I am telling you guys if you ever play in a humid place poly shirts are the only way to go!

I personally am not crazy about 100% poly because they grind on the straps of my backpack and the shirt will be ruined. Also the $80 Fed "no stitch seams" shirts are very washer unfriendly. You can't wash them in hot water and you can't use strong detergent and no fabric softener. I ended up just hand washing them in cold water and then hang dry. No driers if you want your shirt to last. It's a lot of work!

It's real easy to ruin a poly shirt. I've left a couple of poly shirts in the dryer to long and got wrinkles in it that will not come out even with an iron.

I find the best way to treat all of my workout stuff (poly shirts, poly shorts) is to dry them on a drying rack. Also helps to wash them with Win or Penguin Sports wash.

i really love my old wooden rackets, but i would never play a serious match with them. same goes for cotton shirts. they are a thing of the past.

You would never play a serious match in a cotton shirt?

...

never is a strong word, let´s say i haven´t played in one for at least ten years.
i like cotton shirts but for sports i prefer poly. that said, there is a vast difference in quality, and it´s not always the most expensive ones that are the best.

Does anyone hang the shirts in the sun anymore?
Doesn't the sun also kill any odor?
I've got some adidas and nike poly shirts and never had odor problem....

Found some puma t shirts (on sale, to boot) that are a 65 poly/35 cotton blend that feel very comfortable. Just need to get them out in this 100 degree heat to see how they perform.

As a lifetime member of club Chopin I support this decision and will dispose of all my current poly shirts immediately.
